BU in Indiana?

I dont know how many of you are Sportscenter watchers (Haha 100% my guess).

SC showed the quote from the Alum: "this is the biggest thing we've had come here in 10 years"

SC also showed the graphic of Peoria being in the middle of Indiana:confused:

they then made fun of Peoria and the lack of cool things here

HOWEVER

I think we're even because SC doesn't know what state Peoria is in.

Connor, I SC rarely gets all their facts straight, which is hilarious! It's too bad they screwed up talking about Peoria though. Makes me pissed!!

Anyway, good hanging with you tonight, and you are welcome to start a mosh pit with me in the front row again!!!

If Peoria were in Indiana, it would make the state a little less crappy. Indiana sucks. What else can I say?

However, I'm a little thrown that they would mention Peoria as being worse as towns with major basketball programs, such as East Lansing and Bloomington, IN. What is there to do there? Go cow tipping?

100% with you there

Indiana = worst state in the U.S.

Hights KKK members per capita in the Nation <<<true story

Don't know if that's so true anymore, Indiana's a far more liberal state than what most people think...they did start the KKK though, and once had a governor who was a member.

But yes, IN=Worst state in the union. It was a close contest between them and Idaho, but Idaho actually has some scenery outside of corn, thus the title belongs to the hoosier (word meaning inbred hillbilly) state.

don't hate on Idaho...their name is fun to make fun of, and they produce the most potato's in the U.S...and as a Irishman I needs me my potatos!!!

haha

what a great thread this has turned into

ESPN.com e-mail

I just sent the following:

Linda Cohn is an i*diot. My comments are directed at her coverage of the Bradley - Michigan State game. It simply was not necessary to say Peoria's claim to fame is two Super Wal-Marts. It is a great play to live, work, and play. And by the way, it is the world headquarters of Caterpillar, one of the country's best and biggest corporations. And Peoria is in Illinois, not Indiana. Get a map!

Hey...I take offense at that statement, too, because the new Super Wal-Mart in Washington now brings the total locally to THREE!!

ESPN is more about entertainment value than legitimate sports coverage and getting their facts straight. Their inter-changeable talking heads are programmed to be mini shock jocks, nothing more.

I think the saddest part of this whole deal is that the coverage of last nights game could have been so good for college basketball and so interesting to anyone who loves college hoops BU/MSU fan or not.

The contrast in the type of schools, the history of Peoria, Bradley and college hoops here. The rarity of a high profile BCS school like MSU playing a true road game like this. And most importantly the way that our school and community rose the the occasion given the opportunity to host this game. There aren't a half dozen non BCS schools and communities who would have put on the show that we did last night.

In this age where there is so much info and so few untold stories, ESPN had the chance show people something actually interesting instead of more "will Santana end up on the Yankees or Red Sox?" Instead they blew it with the typical stupid flippant jokes.

which means: we will shove it aside and eventually thrown it in the trash

Am I the only who thinks that if that bit had been about Carbondale or Springfield, Mo., you all would've had a nice little chuckle about it?

Not that I was in a good mood after that loss, but watching the terrible coverage by SC was just another kick while I was down.

Thanks to that BU Alum who added fuel to the fire by saying "this is the biggest thing to happen in Peoria in 10 years".

And then the highlights of the game...what a joke. No mention of Bradley being in the lead for 35 minutes of the game. No mention of how the BU defense stifled MSU, including the pre-season all american and bob cousy candidate Drew Neitzel.

Drive-by media at its finest....the talking heads pissed me off more than usual this time. Not only did they not give any respect to our team, they went so far as to make sh*t out of Peoria.

But, they did in fact look like ********************s by implying that Peoria was in Indiana.

They failed to mention it was probably an alum who goes to games every 10 years, not weekly throughout the season...

Oh well... and LInda Cohn worked with BU Grad Charley Steiner...

I don't think a BU alum made the statement. Bases on the sportline article, I think it was an MSU alum living in Peoria who sent an email to Izzo.

"I read one article an alum sent me that said this is the biggest thing that has happened there in 10 years," Izzo said. "I'm not sure whether we're that big or they haven't had a lot of things that have happened there. But they don't get a Michigan State to come in there all the time. There's no question about that."

It baffles me that a sports channel would make fun of a town celebrating a sporting event too much. There probably isn't a whole lot to do in Peoria, but there isn't that much going on in most of the towns that ESPN covers.

I think a bunch of people made a big deal of the President coming to Peoria/East Peoria this year.

It's a day I'll remember for a long time. My office was abuzz about this game for two days. Guys out in the shop were wearing red. It was like when I go to bowl games and everybody wants to talk about the upcoming game.
