OT: Dangerous weather headed for St. Louis!

For those who live in and around the St. Louis area, there are two extremely dangerous supercell thunderstorms headed straight for St. Louis city within the next half hour. They already dodged the first cluster, but these two storms look about as intense on radar as I have seen in a long while! There is the potential for baseball sized hail and a long track large tornado that is causing widespread structural damage in St. Charles County right now.

So here's hoping our posters that live in that area have already taken cover and don't experience any of this weather headed in their direction.

A tornado warning is now in effect for St. Louis city until 8:45. This storm has a history of producing damaging tornadoes, so let's hope this weakens quickly before it hits the heart of the city.

Damage at the Lambert St. Louis airport, including roofs blown off buildings, and damage at Harrah's Casino. Also police scanners calling in the canine units now! Not good! My thoughts and prayers go out to those in the affected areas. It looks like the northern storm is effecting northern St. Louis city while the southern storm will skim the southern part of the city, staying away from the downtown area for now.

The situation seems to be getting more dire in the northern part of St. Louis. Passengers that were deplaned walking through a terminal report blood and glass all over the place! Also serious injuries have been reported in the parking garage. And every window in the main terminal of Lambert Airport have been blown off!!!

What a horrible situation there! I think we'll take the severe hail storm moving through Peoria now anyday over this!

Saw a picture from the Weather Channel that showed a van was teetering over the roof of a parking deck at Lambert. Sounds like there's a lot of damage in the northern suburbs of St. Louis. Plus this tornado was possibly reforming near Edwardsville.

Sounds like what happened at Wrigley Field a couple of summer's ago! The only difference was this was a derecho that went through causing widespread tree damage and some minor tornado spinups along that line.

The St. Louis situation tonight is a lot different though as this appears to be one large damaging tornado that is causing widespread structural damage which is a much more dangerous situation.

Yeah, that first video did not quite capture the dangerous conditions that moved through there tonight! :D Maybe someone will post some better videos of what happened later tonight. Obviously let's hope no one was killed in this though.

Any hail in your area tonight DC? Just rain and thunder for us in Chicago tonight so far.

Having thunderstorms, and they seem to have passed. No hail.
The Weather Channel is now showing some pictures of severely damaged cars in the parking areas at Lambert Field from a tornado. They should probably also be getting pictures of the damage at Concourse C where many windows have been broken.

waiting................cardinal rain delay.....................waiting............wishes they had better rain delay programming......like playing old world series endings, great games, etc... instead of stupid kids club crap

Here is a picture of a van nearly thrown off the top deck of a parking garage by a tornado-

Lambert is shutdown.. there are reports of people trapped in planes on the tarmac..
I-270 has been shutdown for 1 hr in NSTL County.. downed powerlines across the interstate.
There were 2 tornadoes.. one south of downtown and one to the north. It appears the one to the north did much more damage.

This comes on the heels of Tuesday's storms. 6 tornadoes touchdowned .. all about 1 hr's drive from St. Louis. There was a fair amount of hail damage all over the area from those storms. My car got pounded.

Hopefully no tornado damage for you tonight?

Yeah, the Cardinal game is back on now! It looks like the downtown area got off pretty easy, though it was close on both sides of town.

We just got some heavy rain.. so got off easy compared to others tonight.

Just here an unconfirmed report.. a plane full of people was lifted off the ground and slammed back down.. not confirmed yet.
Lambert officials are supposed to be holding a news conference right about now.

I'm watching the first live shot from Lambert..
The control tower has no power.. black.. a lot of windows blown out.
Video pretty incredible of the damage there.
No reports of serious injuries.
Airport shutdown for the night.
Planes being diverted around the region.
Numerous cars damaged.. one woman in a minivan with her kids.. said the win picked her minivan up and slammed it down.
Reporter mentioned people trapped in planes on the tarmac.. but still not confirmed by airport officials.

Wow! Amazing no one was seriously hurt or killed in this! Someone was looking out for these people.

Man what a crazy night in STL metro. I had just finished house work and saw the tornado warning for St. Charles County. So I figured I would just pop up the live scanner on RadioReference and heard the New Melle tornado wipe out a few neighborhoods. I figured it would just be a quick touchdown tornado but I listened to this puppy dart across the northern suburbs of STL on the STL North County Fire live scanner.

This tornado caused a massive amount of damage to the N. STL Suburbs, much more than what all the media is talking about with the Lambert Airport. Hopefully we won't hear of any fatalities tomorrow.

Yeah, that's true. You're right, hopefully there aren't any fatalities that the media does not know about yet. We'll see what happens.
