2008 Commitment- Combo guard Dwight Buycks

I am just getting confirmation of this.
This kid is awesome, 3 STAR recruit, a 6-2 - 6-3 version of Daniel Ruffin.

He had interest and even some soft offers from UConn, Iowa State, Memphis, but grades held back some offers.
Apparently BU is now confident of the kid's academic status.

Scout has Buycks incorrectly listed as a 2008 recruit but he will be available in Fall of 2007. They also give him 3 STARS.

Some on this forum say Buycks is the best player in the state of Wisconsin, and also list Illinois as after him.

This site from last summer says Buycks was considering prep school. We will have to wait to see if this is still a consideration but I'd doubt it if this story of his committment to BU turns out to be true.

Is this a best athlete available recruit or is the coaching staff showing more confidence that MS can step into ZA's role next year with the two freshman bigs & SS to round out the frontcourt. I just know practically everyone was looking for this last recruit to be a JUCO big.

So if this is indeed true, that is our last schloarship for 2007, unless somebody leaves correct? Well then what happened to getting a big man? Does this mean that one of the gaurds would now likely redshirt? :?

Bradley get a commit

Bradley get a commit

If this is true, and it appears to be, somone(s) is leaving the program!
I am sure Jim Les knows we need another athletic, preferably JUCO 6'8 + next year. Unless this kid is the second coming of Boo Wade, we already have great 1's & 2's.
However, we are deficient in numbers when it comes to "bigs."

This is indeed who I saw at the Bradley game Saturday night and did not recognize.

This helps a lot to replace Will Franklin and JJ Tauai, and gives even more backup to Daniel Ruffin.

I sat next to him on Saturday and he was having a great time really into the game. I am 5 10 and he looked 6'3 + and a nice frame. He sat infront of Roth and was a much larger guy then Roth both in height and size.

In JL we trust

In JL we trust

I have confidence that JL knows what he is doing. You don't really need to be all that big to compete in The Valley and I believe that 6'4"-6'7" kids today are so incredibly athletic that you can put 4 on the floor with one athletic big and be very successful (hey, that sounds like this year's team without the depth that's coming  )

Can you imagine when you take our current athletes and add these 6'-6'6" studs to the mix............ :-o

WOW! :D

This is good news :D .......so was he the kid in the green sweet-top at the So. Miss game? :?

Radigan pointed out two guys to me...never did get a good look or go speak with either player. (I was too busy with the SM coach  )

Yes, this is the kid who was at the So. Miss. game in a green sweater/jersey.

After Fred Ellis (Bradley's former #1 recruiting target, from Sacramento) committed to Baylor, Dwight Buycks was said to be Bradley's #1 target. When he didn't commit by the November signing period, Bradley began to evaluate others. But he visited for the Southern Miss game (along with several other prospects), and that must have convinced him to commit.

Milwaukee Bay View High School is 6-0 and Buycks is averaging 27.8 ppg.

I think good guards are going to take a long look at BU because of the 4 gaurd success they have had this year. You have to think next year's squad will be deeper and more talented at the gaurd spot. If I was a 28 PPG gaurd and came to watch this team I would be interested because of style of play. Gaurd U(new nickname?). I wish he was a 6'9'' center too but JL gets a lot of slack from me. You have to take this talent when it comes. I think things will be fine when the roster comes out.

One interesting thing I noticed about Buycks. He has played the past couple summers for an AAU team DTA Wisconsin.
Another Bradley recruit also plays for DTA Wisconsin and had a pretty good summer-- Montrel Clark of Milwaukee Pius high school.

If another scholarship becomes available, maybe Clark would be a consideration? Academics have been a concern for him in the past, though.
