If you missed it, yesterday the MVC released the 2024 Scholar-athlete team - https://mvc-sports.com/news/2024/3/...vc-mens-basketball-scholar-athlete-teams.aspx

Today, the MVC released the All-Bench team, the 6th man Award, the Most-Improved team, and the Most Improved Player - https://mvc-sports.com/news/2024/3/4/arch-madness-mvc-announces-all-bench-most-improved-teams.aspx

Xavier Bledson of Indiana State is the 6th man of the year, and he is the captain of the All-Bench team
Xavier Johnson is the Most Improved player, and the team captain of the Most-Improved team.

All-Bench and Most-Improved teams- Congratulations to Darius Hannah and Connor Hickman!

I know it happens every year - but someone has to ask....

how did they leave Christian Davis off BOTH Most Improved Team and the All-Bench Team?

His stats improved by a greater percent than anyone else on the All Improved Team plus he became one of the best defenders in the League
Then, Davis' production off the bench (7.5 ppg, 32% 3-pt, 4.8 rpg, & outstanding defense) dwarfs Garland's (5.8 ppg, 23% 3-pt shooting, 2.6 rpg) & others
And it's not because he started too many games, as there's other players selected who started more.

Good call. Didn't even occur to me, but you're right, CD was a no-brainer for the most-improved.

Not wearing my rose colored BU glasses, I wouldn't have voted for Davis on all improved. I like him as a player but he has regressed some (in my opinion) as the season has gone on. After non conference play, he was playing like a starter and was hitting countless key shots for us. Maybe he has gotten tired as the season has wore on?

If I look at the BU team, they have the right guys for all improved. It's very well known how bad we were with Hick and people view him as one of our catalysts this year. Hannah is just obvious in his production and the eye test.

Interesting that other than 3 of the 6 1st teamers who are post-grad players (Malevy Leons, Xavier Johnson, Darnell Brodie), every other player on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd teams is an underclass player. The All-Defense, All Bench, and Most Improved teams are all underclass guys as well, except for Leons and Johnson. The MVC should be pretty good next season, assuming all these guys return.

Very deserving awards, I think Hannah should have at least been on the third team. I also believe Cade Tyson should be first team instead of Brodie.
Now lets everyone play like this in the Tour. and win 3 games.

I was surprised Brodie got first team as well.
