9/9 PJS KW story on the FRIDGE!

"As a rookie with the Bears in 1985, Perry was 6-feet-2, 325 pounds; one of five players in the entire NFL to weigh more than 300.
Today, when more than 350 NFL players are at least that big, The Fridge is simply larger than life."

It is hard to comprehend how much bigger NFL players have become over the last 20 years.

People don't understand that how things are different from 85 to now though. Now we have top highschools that put their kids through weight training, ect, and by the time they reach the collegiate level they are already doing training and conditioning that is similar to the NFL. The serious players live and breath football, whereas 25-30-40 years ago many of the offensive and defensive linemen got by on minimal workouts. Look at say, Dan Hampton. That guy was a beast, and I am not saying he never hit the weight room, but he was just born that way. Now players have supplements ect, eating routines, diets, strength excersizes, ect. The Fridge was so out of shape before his rookie year some of the coaches didn't even want him on the team. Now look at Williams, the Chargers NT, he is over 300 pounds and can really move. I think that the NFL has just got more and more competitive, and with that players work that much harder to get an advantage. I think before you assume that steroids are the real reason why so many players are bigger, stronger, and faster, look at what they do differently now to get ready for the NFL as opposed to 25 years ago.

The problem with the pure better eating, conditioning, supplements... argument is that argument had been fed to the baseball, olympic sprinter, .... fan for years, then this Balco thing came up...

It is now natural to be suspicious.
