that's interesting....

Bradley had pursued a kid named Brant Byers and recruited him vigorously as far back as 2020 when Byers was just a high school sophomore.
Byers is a very similar player to Almar - both 6-8, play inside & outside and rely a lot on 3-pt shooting.
Bradley reportedly offered in November 2020 and Byers made a visit to Bradley.
Then - two years ago in 2023 - when Byers did an additional year of prep school, Bradley stepped up their recruiting and "offered him" again and he made an official visit!

but once Bradley had Almar locked in, they possibly backed off Byers and Byers landed at Miami (OH), where he put up
pretty good numbers this past season as a freshman - 8.4ppg, 49.5% FG shooting and 41.4% frpm 3-pt, plus the fewest turnovers of anyone who played in their rotation. He was awarded the MAC Freshman of the Year Award

Now Almar will be at Miami and playing alongside Byers. I gotta think if Byers ever lands in the portal, our staff will be on him.

Almar Atlason.

Good for you. Lad...

The sophomore year is most often the hardest ..
I am glad to see that you have landed on your feet.
Study. Work hard. Compete,
Graduate. Play in Europe. Or at your ceiling..
We will follow you in Ohio.
Once a Brave. Always a Brave..

I think that's great, but I also think it's why he failed to develop while at Bradley. Almar, more than most, would have really benefited by spending the summer working in the weight room and on nutrition. Because of him spending his summer away from his college team, I would not expect him to have a break-out year this year.

I agree because he definitely needed to get stronger and work on his agility.

The Iceland Men's National Team has now completed their first two friendly games in Italy.
Saturday they lost 87-61 to Italy, but in that game Almar was one of Iceland's top scorers with 10 pts ( three 3-pointers) in his first ever Senior Men's international match.
Today they played Poland and lost a close game 92-90 - no stats yet on this game. They play Senegal tomorrow.
