Big losses for Loyola

the much traveled Cully Payne is leaving Loyola and not returning - but even worse...
Cully's little brother Quinten Payne - one of the top recruits in Illinois - had pledged to Loyola and is now reneging and reopening his recruitment - so that's the loss of two potential starters from next year's squad!
Cully would likely be immediately eligible if he transfers, as he's completed his degree - his little brother is highly touted and could have stepped right in..

Cully Payne attended 2 high schools transferring away from Burlington Central to Schaumburg. Payne's coach at BC was his uncle. He's also been associated with 4 colleges. I can't believe he still has elgibility left.

if he heads to another college it will actually be the 5th one he's committed to - DePaul, Alabama, Iowa, Loyola, and wherever he selects..gotta be some record...

Quinten Payne - who just decommitted from new MVC school, Loyola - where he committed after his sophomore year, went on a visit to Virginia Tech. No mention whether he was offered.
In my opinion, if he goes to Virginia Tech - he'll be making the exact same mistake his brother made several times..
He is variably stated to be 6-3 or 6-4 and plays a small forward position in high school....he is now trying to morph himself into a SG..

BTW - article on reasons kids transfer - transfer rate is 40%

since his announcement in March that he is leaving Loyola - Cully Payne has barely been heard from ....

but now with Porter Moser in the news getting a contract extension - this current article seems to state pretty clearly that Cully Payne is returning to Loyola...
"Despite losing forward Ben Averkamp and guard Jordan Hicks...the Ramblers
are returning 10 players from last year’s squad.

Some of those 10 players include guards Cully Payne and Devon
Turk...Combine those 10 players with new recruits and the universities
commitment to Moser, the Ramblers may finally have the pieces in place to
make some noise in the college basketball world."

But I think the guy is wrong...there's nothing whatsoever to indicate Payne is with the team -- their 2013-14 roster does not include him

If I remember correctly, it seems Loyola fans said that Cully had injury issues and was giving up basketball as a whole.
