Boogie to perform in Dunk Contest tonight.

WOW.........that's neat..............Congrats to Boogie......do you think that shot of him dunking over JL had anything to do with it? :-o

I'm assuming JL will go to support Boogie, but is there a player/coach- assisted dunk portion of the contest? What i really mean is, will Les and Boogie team up during the contest?

The PJS reports it will be broadcast Thursday on a delayed basis at 8PM on ESPN.
Rodney Carney is participating, and opposing coach Ben Howland said he thught Carney was so good that he was capable of winning the NBA dunk contest.

Here are some of the details...

Boogie is referred to as a "dunk artist"!

The competition will be on TV at 8PM on ESPN, but will be tape delayed from an hour earlier.

This year's "dunk artists" include Maurice Ager of Michigan State, Rodney Carney of Memphis, Errol Knight of Gonzaga, David Noel of North Carolina, James White of Cincinnati, Elgrace Wilborn of Western Kentucky and Lawrence Wright of Bradley.

Among the celebrity judges for the slam dunk competition will be Indianapolis Colts Pro Bowl LB Cato June and Indiana high school legend, Bobby Plump, who took Milan High School to the 1954 state championship and who was immortalized on screen as Jimmy Chitwood in the classic 1986 film, "Hoosiers."

The show's on-air team will include ESPN announcers, Brad Nessler, Steve Lavin, Jimmy Dykes and Erin Andrews.

I'm glad Packer will not be there because he would say that there is no way Boogie should be competing with Aeger and Noel.

Boogie was eliminated in the first round. There were some amazing leapers in the competetion. And Boogie's dunks seemed a little conservative. It's still great to see a Bradley guy in this competetion. Who would have thought?

Will Zach Andrews make it next year?

It was won by David Noel of North Carolina.

he would have scored pretty high on his second dunk if he would of been able to pull it off. notice that his self alley-oop one hander scored less than someone else's 2 hand slam of the same nature ..
a little more creativity would of helped he should of used his tripple jump skills

I was fortunate enough to be able to attend it. Very high energy, and we stood for the whole 2+ hours. I will post video/pics when I get the chance, but they are pretty blurry.

My feeling was that Boogie wanted to go conservative on his first try. On his second try, he tried to spice it up, but missed his first two, forcing him to quickly do a straight one-handed dunk before the clock expired. I was decked out in Bradley gear, and Boogie acknowledged us as he was walking off the court. In any event, it was good to see him one last time in a Bradley uniform.

I watched the dunk contest and could not believe James "flight" White. He has major major hops. I noticed him on the Portsmouth Invitational list. HE is very special and has been through alot. MCD AA, Left Florida, ended his career at Cincy. I know it was just a dunk contest, but he has the athletic ability to be a good NBA player. Just wonder if anyone else noticed him?

There has been some talk on the Memphis boards that Rodney Carney did injure his knee in one of the dunks.
In a dunk where he took off from ONE FOOT behind the FT line, he flew at full speed, slammed the ball against the rim, missed the dunk, then came down awkardly on his left leg.
He immediately waived that he would not attempt another dunk even though the other participants urged him to try again as he still had enough time.
He grimaced as he walked but appeared to try to hide the fact that it was hurting.
Surely he knows a big NBA payday is right around the corner, and I suspect he wouldn't want any hint that he had hurt himself.
