Bradley close to developing a mascot?

Bradley's Branding Committee has been meeting for the past several months with emphasis on developing a mascot for Bradley's athletic teams. They have already come up with a mascot concept.
The next phase of the development will involve holding various focus groups next week to gather feedback from various University constituents on the mascot concept and artwork. The focus groups involve Bradley alumni, Braves Club members, season ticket holders, and donors, and will also include a short survey.

Ah, the good old days when we actually had a mascot who fired the crowd up. Can't see any of the above firing up any crowd.

I actually believe the Gargoyle is an original idea and would be unique to BU. If we do choose that I hope everyone will give it a chance rather than being against it so as to avoid change.

What change? Haven't had a Brave as a mascot for years.

New BU Mascot No-Brainer

New BU Mascot No-Brainer

BU looking for a new mascot?
  • One to uplift the crowd, get them on their feet?
  • A mascot that will be adored by some, and, loved by many?
  • One that will also help get alumni to donate record amounts to the MBB program?
  • A mascot that will be the face of the program/school forever?
  • A mascot that opposing MVC Teams will fear, and who will intimidate referees?

It's an absolute no brainer.....

Wouldn't even have to spend money on a costume....

th

With the litigation settlements, should be willing to do it for free!

Is this deja vu or what? This is the first I heard such review and decision-making was still occurring. We went through this several months ago, but although it was part of the "Brave" vs. "Braves" vs. "what ever alternate name" discussion, I thought the formal and officially announced decision was there would be no action taken on this for the foreseeable future. What has changed?

And, for what it is worth: A gargoyle has nothing to do with BU other than what is on some buildings (which is common-place on many large limestone fa?§ade buildings in the world). No tradition is associated with the thing and it has nothing to do with Braves.

And we could go on ad infinitum with this argument, why does it get re-hashed? Whatever they come up with, I hope it makes sense and still ties to "Braves" and BU tradition somehow.

I think the "no action taken on this for the foreseeable future" applied only to the failed attempt to persuade Braves fans to accept a change of the nickname to Brave.

The mascot discussion was actually attached more to the logo/emblem change, and back then it was generally accepted that the next phase that followed the logo/emblem change would be mascot development. IMO, just like the logo, this is already likely a done deal.

Maybe they should change the nickname to Calvary and have a mascot dressed as a Calvary member. Didn't the Calvary chase away the Braves?

Any chance BU Admin would consider the Bradley 'Spinsters', or, the Bradley 'Moss' in deference to its founder? Can't wait for BU to play the Stanford Trees with our litchen looking mascot chasing the tree around the court!!!

Given the state of Peoria in general and the location of BU in particular, the Bradley 'Bangers' could also fit as a mascot. There would be a gang banger in uniform rapping and spinning records during games.. Could also be a solution to increasing student attendance at games.
