Elijah himself just tweeted this...

"I'm proud to say I have committed to Bradley University #1team1family"

saw one site that listed his 3-pt shooting at 0-13.......so I guess that's not part of his game...

Dave Reynolds has a more informative article about Elijah Childs-
http://www.pjstar.com/sports/201610...om-suburban-kansas-city-forward-elijah-childs

He "chose Bradley over offers from Saint Louis, Indiana State and UMKC along with interest from Wichita State."

This seems like a great recruit for Coach Wardle. He was looking for a more offensively skilled inside player, and Childs fits that bill. After watching the videos of him, he reminds me a bit of Alex Foster, who I saw play several times in high school at De La Salle HS and Seton Academy. Foster has never quite shown the dominance he did in high school, but let's hope we see more of it this season at Bradley.
Childs is also left handed and appears to know how to use his body to get shots close to the basket. And the write-ups about him suggest he can make the occasional mid range jump shots, too. It has been a while since Bradley has had an inside player who could score reliably. Taylor Brown is the only BU player in the last 10 years who could play inside and could score consistently, though he was not a typical "inside" player.
Elijah Childs hopefully has the capability to develop into that kind of player as well.

Another highlight video. Hint: wait a few seconds for the video to start and don't click on any ads-

He has some pretty nice inside moves on both the offensive and defensive ends.

That is a good highlight video, good looking player. If he were 2 inches taller he'd be an elite prospect I think. Great get for bradley. I'm curious what the players on the team think of us already being over committed by two. Does the coach know there are two guys moving on at the end of the year or just preparing for what happens every year anymore? Do we have disgruntled players? Are one of the international kids thinking of pursuing pro opportunities overseas? I have lots of questions.

I have not heard anything about disgruntled players, and I doubt the coach knows yet who will be moving on. But I do think Coach Wardle knows he needs to keep upgrading to compete for the top of the MVC, and the other teams he is competing against are doing the same thing. I agree that Elijah Childs appears to be a high quality athlete and an upgrade over the players now at the 3 & 4 spots. I think we will have a better idea who he (and Stipanovich) might be replacing as the season progresses by watching who gets the least playing time.

Note that the 3 scholarship players who left after last season (Okafor, Cooper, and James) played 444 to 516 fewer minutes on the season than any other returning scholarship player.

Also pretty good recruiting to get a verbal from a kid who has not even had his campus yet, coming next week end and thanks to Wichita State for wanting him to go to prep school for a year helping him to decide on BU now!;)

In looking at the links provided here (thanks), I have seen heights of 6'6", 6'7" and 6'8". He must be growing very fast.

I would not be surprised to see additional recruits in 2017. The fact that we are already two over should provide great competition among the players who want to stay at Bradley.

Seems like a very solid get for you guys. Built like someone that can come in and compete physically right away.

As far as the prep school thing ... tends to happen when you have no Scholarships available for 2017 ha!.

Fully Grown at 17?

Fully Grown at 17?

Hopefully Elijah is not done growing taller!

Congratulations Elijah. You will never regret your choice of Bradley.
Excellent school, and great fan base. Once a Brave, always a Brave, rings true post basketball/BU.

Welcome!
