BU President Glasser....

according to HOI 19 said has been diognosed with cancer? Has anyone else heard this?

Breast cancer, but she already had surgery.

She emailed all of the students:
Dear Bradley community,

In the months I have been here, you have accepted me as part of the
Bradley family, and I have treasured that. Now, as family members share
things, I wish to share with you a very personal development. During my
recent annual physical examination, it was determined that I have a form
of breast cancer.

I am very fortunate that this type of breast cancer is very treatable
and it was discovered early. I had surgery last week, and my doctors
are extremely confident in their prognosis for my complete recovery.

I am back on campus now, and I will have six weeks of radiation
treatment which will probably begin in early 2009. Such radiation
treatments are considered routine parts of the treatment for this form
of breast cancer. My doctors have told me that I will experience some
fatigue during the treatments, but that it should not affect my work.

The radiation treatments will, however, cause one change in my normal
activities. I will be curtailing my travel for a short time. Once the
treatments are done, I expect to resume my full schedule of activities,
both on and off campus, as we continue together to move Bradley
University forward. Thanks to annual physical examinations and early
detection, I am confident I will make a full recovery. As always, I
will keep you informed of developments.

I do want to thank you in advance for your thoughts and prayers. As I
contend with this disease, it is very comforting to do so with the
support of the Bradley family.

Have a joyous and blessed holiday season.

Warm regards,

Joanne K. Glasser

Thanks for the update. My mother had breast cancer and regardless of type it is not an easy thing to swallow. If all she is doing is radiation then they caught it real early and it is not the agressive type. My prayers are with her.

Best of luck to President Glasser. :)

This is sad news. I hope that her recovery goes well, I think she has done a great job in a lot of different areas since coming to BU.
