Derrick Barden is a 6'5" wing player at Odessa Junior College in Texas. He is originally from Detroit, Michigan, Denby HS, but did not qualify out of high school.
He is a prolific scorer at Odessa, and has already gone over 1000 points for his 2 year career at Odessa College, the first player from Odessa to score over 1000 since NBA star Larry Johnson. He averages 20 ppg and 12 rpg, and is a similar player to former Brave Theron Wilson. He does not shoot a lot of threes, but shoots 38% from the three point line.

Barden??™s vertical jump and long arms help make up for stature. Barden said he doesn??™t know how high he can jump, but teammate Brandon Williams guessed 40 or 42 inches.
Bradley, Seattle, Northern Colorado, Detroit, Southern Alabama and Campbell have all offered scholarships.
