Jermaine Morgan is a 6'8" forward at Moberly (Missouri) Area Community College. He is originally from Whitney Young HS in Chicago, where Coach Ronald Coleman was one of his high school assistant coaches.
He originally committed to Colorado State back in September, 2011 after Coach Coleman was named an assistant coach by Tim Miles at Colorado State.

But Miles left Colorado State in early 2012, before Morgan ever enrolled. He failed to qualify academically, and instead opted for Moberly CC-

He is a sophomore this season at Moberly Area CC.

I have heard Bradley is now turning a lot of their recruiting attention toward Jermaine Morgan.

Jermaine Morgan, who reportedly had become one of Bradley's top 2014 targets, just committed to Washington State over the offer from Bradley.

This may be a good thing. We need scoring to replace Walt, and I wasn't thrilled with the numbers that he was putting up. Not that the numbers are an accurate representation of how he will be at the D1 level, but it would be nice to get someone that can fill up the hoop. Washington State though? Good luck to him...I'm holding out hope for Cunningham. Or I hope we find a superior athletic Chris Roberts type.

I agree. He will probably be a good D1 player for Washington State, if not a starter. But after Walt leaves, we could use another scoring guard, IMO.

Jermaine Morgan explains why he chose Washington State over Bradley & other schools...and it sounds famililar...
they have been on him longer - they didn't just pick up the scent recently - and that made all the difference to him,
even though the talk on the Washington State board and even the comments from the coach make it sound like he's pegged as a backup -
a guy who just gives them depth!

As noted in the "Coaching Carousel" thread, Washington State head coach Ken Bone was fired today. One of the juco players that Bradley coaches felt confident we were going to sign last November in the early signing period was Jermaine Morgan of Moberly Area CC. However, as noted above, Morgan ended up signing with Washington State.

I've heard some unfounded speculation that Bradley may be back in the picture to land Morgan. But I'm not so sure. First, he would have to be released from his Letter of Intent by Washington State. And though that often does happen with a coaching change, it could take some time, and our coaches want to get recruits locked up as soon as possible, before they are all committed elsewhere.

As expected, 4 weeks after the head coach of Washington State was fired, Jermaine Morgan has finally been released from his National Letter of Intent.

The one thing that may work in the favor of a school like Bradley is that he says he wants to stay closer to his home in Chicago to help a family member deal with medical problems. We've seen recruits and players say this before, then transfer a thousand miles from home.

But I do not think Bradley has been in contact with him since he verballed to Washington State 5 months ago.

I have heard a rumor that Bradley may be trying to get former juco recruit Jermaine Morgan on the rebound after his decommitment and release from Washington State. But with an extreme shortage of big men nationally in the remaining class of 2014, there is a lot of competition and it will be difficult.

As is reported in another thread- 6'8" juco sophomore Jermaine Morgan visited Bradley this weekend (April 19-20) and committed to Bradley.

He will have 2 seasons of eligibility to play for Bradley.
From what I have heard from those who have watched him workout, he will likely be a starter for Bradley next year at the 4 or the 5.

Here are his final stats for his sophomore juco season at Moberly Area Community College- 8.5 ppg and 8.4 rpg-

Jermaine Morgan played a limited number of games his freshman juco season (2012-13) at Odessa College in Texas. He was a teammate there with Bradley's Auston Barnes. Morgan played in 7 games, and averaged 4.0 ppg, and 3.3 rpg. That 2012-13 Odessa team also included Daishon Knight, who was the leading scorer at Illinois State last season.

Welcome to the Hilltop Jermaine.....looking forward to you being a Brave! :)

Starting to think the Chicago connection could start paying dividends now and in the future with more players to come!

At one point it was unsure how much he played his first year of juco because he transferred schools at semester but from further investigation he played in 7 games that first year using one year of eligibility. Therefore he will have two to use at bradley.
