Bradley is recruiting Warren Jones, a 6'3", 175 lb. shooting guard at Southeastern Community College in West Burlington, Iowa. Southeastern CC is 17-4, and Jones is their second leading scorer at 16.0 ppg. He is shooting 43.2% from three point range, and 52.1% overall.
Last year as a freshman at Southeastern, he averaged 9.7 ppg.

He is originally from Sandoval, Illinois, just outside of Centralia. He attended Sandoval High School and graduated in 2012.
He was 4th team All State his senior year-

And he was Player of the Year in his small school conference-

Rivals- he has interest from several midmajors including Evansville and Loyola of the MVC

Here is a YouTube video from his freshman year at SECC. He is #3-

And he was quite a prolific high school scorer- here is a YouTube video of a 58 point game he had in high school-

we are recruiting a lot of folks considering we have zero positions available. I know what will happen but I wonder what the current players think seeing this?

Actually, I believe we still officially have 1 scholarship available. The Macari Brooks situation is not totally resolved, and that scholarship is not yet committed to him.
But your point is well taken. I am certain some of our players who are not seniors have to wonder if they will be at Bradley next year.

After watching several videos of Warren Jones from high school and juco, he reminds me of former Drake star Josh Young or Booker Woodfox of Creighton. Young was a small, thin kid from a very small school in Oklahoma who got no other D1 interest other than Drake. He needed time to build up strength, but became a great shooter and all-around player in the MVC. Woodfox was a undersized shooting guard who went to juco and got very little D1 interest, but became POY by his senior year at Creighton.
I am not saying Jones will become an all-MVC player like Young or a POY like Woodfox, he might never even make it to D1. But he is quick and has a quick release to his shot and he looks like a kid who has been overlooked and bears watching.

BU recruit Warren Jones finished the season at Southeastern Community College (West Burlington, Iowa) as their second leading scorer with 16.8 ppg. He shot 40.9% from three. SCC finished the season 25-7.
Here are his stats for 2013-14-

Bradley coach Geno Ford would like to sign one more combo guard who can score with the available scholarships he has, and I am hearing that Bradley is still in contact with Warren Jones and still very much interested in getting a commitment from him. We might even see a visit in the near future. :)

Southeastern Iowa CC 6-3 G Warren Jones will make official visit to Bradley this weekend.

I think there is a good chance we'll hear of a commitment from WJ this weekend, or shortly after.

Provided he commits, that means three new guards that shoot close to or better than 40% from three. That is a very, very good thing, filling a glaring weakness from the last couple of seasons with multiple options.

DC or anyone who might have knowledge, do you know how competent he is as a ball handler/passer? If he can be another point guard option that would help the team greatly and hopefully help speed Ka'Darryl Bell's growth.

I think all fans will be happy to have better outside shooters after these last few years.

Jones was a decent ball handler in high school, but has never handled the ball much at Southeastern CC.

As was reported in this thread, 6'2" juco shooting guard Warren Jones of Southeastern Community College in West Burlington, Iowa, visited the BU campus this weekend (April 18-20), and committed to Bradley. he will have 2 seasons of eligibility remaining-

From someone who was able to watch him play in an open gym with some of Bradley's players, he is reported to handle the ball fairly well for a shooting guard who played little point guard in junior college.

Here is a YouTube video of him at Southeastern junior college. He is #3 initially he is in the dark uniform (it switches to white uniforms later)-

And here is a YouTube video of him in high school game for little Sandoval HS when he scored 58 points in a game his senior year (he's #24)-

Warren Jones' juco teammate at Southeastern Comm. College, Jordan Stevens (6-2 SG), who also had some great numbers (19 ppg/4 rpg)
...signs with Duquesne

We started recruiting Warren Jones in January 2014 but only offered him when we were desperate late in April of 2014 with Swopshire & Zecevic departing and sitting on open rides so late in the game..

But now upon reflection....even though the kid had decent scoring ability - he still was a defensive liability, and as we see now also behavioral issues..

But the big question is - couldn't this have been forseen?..I think it was by other schools...
Isn't it curious that despite his numbers at juco, he got little recruiting interest - he had no other DI offers....and he wasn't even listed in most recruiting databases - I can only find him in one - which is the jucojunction.com database (branch of Rivals).

So I'd have to conclude that this is another example is bad recruiting, as happened with Blake, Amerson, Swop, Zecevic, Fields, Hodges, & others, etc...
we ended up getting burned by pursuing & offering kids that we had no business expecting anything from, couldn't score, couldn't play, and some didn't even have eligibility...
And to think some thought our staff kinda landing a great player with Jones when now we know otherwise.
Just more failed recruiting attributable to the same staff and same factors as all the others..Not to mention the grades are probably gonna kill us.
