Cal Hires Mike Montgomery

Mike Montgomery did a great job at Stanford, then left to coach in the NBA where the real big money is.
Sadly, he didn't last long as an NBA coach, and now that the Cal head coaching job was open again they have hired Mike Montgomery!

Also- Cal's best player, Ryan Anderson is leaving and declaring for the NBA draft and will not return to Cal.

One of the lesser known D-I's Texas Southern dismissed its interim Robert Moreland and hired Tony Harvey.

Most will recall Harvey as one of the masterminds of the failed regime at Missouri under Quin Snyder.

At his press conference he reminded everyone...
"We made some mistakes (at Missouri)," he said. "But we paid for them handsomely.
I now have a much better understanding of the rules and a greater awareness of them."

"Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither will this program," said Harvey. "But no one -- and I mean no one -- will outwork me and my staff when it comes to making TSU a quality program."

Mike Montgomery is a solid coach! Any school that could get him would be lucky. He has a lot of work in front of him but he can get it done and he knows the area. It will be intersting to see how the local media plays with this because CAL and Stanford are huge rivals.
