Do I want them in or do I want them out?

BU ICEMAN

This is a question I'm sure that nearly each and every BU fan here has asked themselves, and I thought it would make for a heckuva thread, albeit a "dangerous" thread....that being said, the statements I may make are hyperbole and intended to entertain, not be taken with a 100% seriousness....

Of course, the "them" that I refer to is ISU.

On the one hand, since I view ISU as one step above pond scum on the evolutionary scale, I want so bad for ISU to not only be a member of the "Last 4 out" club, but to take the title for "Last 1 out." I mean, how the heck do I ever root for ISU, unless an ISU win has a greater positive effect for BU? Which sort of leads into the other hand....

As a member of the MVC, it does provide BU some benefit (for the future) by furthering the reputation of the MVC as being a perennial multi-bid, competitive conference. So, I sort of want ISU to get in....and I guess I have to root for them if they do get in.....the mere thought is enough to unsettle the lunch I have in my stomach.....

What's a true BU fan to do?

You know... where is the argument that we as fans should and do root for the big State U cause that's the state we live in?

And did we not all want SIU to do well?

No-brainer... we all want ISU IN!

I'm not from IL so that rational does not hold for me. I only want them in if they show up to play. They could emabarass the league if they play another game like last Sunday:rolleyes:

IN

Only for the sake of the Valley, but it ain't easy!

If the Valley had two or three teams already lined up for bids, I would probably say OUT!

Yes....I've thought about that as well. If they do get in, they'll be playing a team on the same level as Drake.

I can't explain the last game against Drake. The other 2 meetings, they blew leads in both games. In 2006, maybe many MVC fans didn't want BU in, just in case they don't show up to play (like in the 2nd 1/2 of the MVCT vs SIU).

They have suffered long enough...in and I hope they win.

I hope they get it in. I really don't care that much....but at least they'd be a team in the tournament I'm somewhat familiar with. Gives me something to watch. And I gotta say I like watching Eldrige play.

In. Gotta look at the bigger picture here. The MVC remaining a 2+ bid league is important, and a bid also makes the chances of Jankovich jumping ship that much higher. I get the feeling that he's looking for the first BCS offer he can get.

I also want them to get in. And I hope they, and Drake win a couple games. It has to help the MVC in the future to have success yearly and not have a year that others can point to and say "I told you they weren't for real".

Did you have the same opinion after how ever many minutes w/o FG it was BU played in the 2006 championship!?!?

ISU needs to be IN!

For the Valley, and for the state. We can't have another state shutout like 1999. Should NEVER happen in Illinois.

I guess I could care less if it was Illinois State or Evansville. I felt that Illinois State played themselves into the tournament in the regular season. Right now, they are sitting with a 23-9 record, rpi of 33 and 26-5 record in one of the better non-BCS conferences. I say better non-BCS conferences, because most of these people on TV think all non-BSC conferences are created equal (i.e. cakewalks). The MVC is not a cakewalk. I just wish the committee would look at each school's resume and their accomplishments regardless of the schools name, history or conference. Case in point...the last few weeks, the media has made it sound like there are 30+ teams on the bubble and never really give any realistic assessments of those teams chances. Probably because these decisions are not made with real reason, but instead a bunch of biases (which is sickly obvious in most TV converage) and feelings. Just look at the last 4 in and out (Joe Lunardi, ESPN), which includes teams like Oregon (RPI = 56), Florida State (RPI = 61), Arizona state (RPI = 81). They all have LOSING conference records. As a member of the MVC, I do not want to even be in the discussion of at large bigs with these LOSING teams. I would percieve it as an insult to my school, my achievements and my conference. Therefore, to prevent these things from happening to a school like Bradley in the future, I WANT Illinois State to get in. I WANT any team with a resume like that to get in. It's a disgrace that Illinois State is even in the bubble conversation and I hope they make a statement in the tournament that teams with their resume deserve a spot in the NCAA over losing BCS schools.

I definately want ISU in. Not only does it help the Valley's reputation, but our "hate" for ISU really only occurs when we play them head to head, or we when we try to finish ahead of them in the standings. Since however they are the better of the two teams this year, I will definately root for an NCAA appearance and a long run in the tournament.

OUT, OUT, and OUT!!!! The way they got man handled by Drake last Sun. they don't belong!!! They don't belong for the sake of the Valley because what if they get blowen out again in the 1st round, that sure isn't going to make any postive statement!!
ALSO BECAUSE THIER FANS DON'T DESERVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
