Hoosier beat reporter from Indianapolis Star believes Wilkins has NOT committed

I think at this point we need THE big and a 6'6"-6'7" swingman

We have the 6-6 - 6-7 swingman. His name is Taylor Brown.

Last year we had the 6-5 swingman named Theron Wilson.

Two years prior to that we had Cellus.

I think we have had some top MVC swingmen in here.

Ok, I didn't mean to replace Taylor, I mean to compliment Taylor...he will be a Junior next year so why not get his Freshman replacement ready...

Just look at how having Sonnen and young Koch have helped UNI

The term "offer" can be construed multiple ways.
Indiana already has all their scholarships accounted for next season, so probably they did not make a concrete scholarship offer to JW, but I do not know what Tom Crean actually told him.
More likely he told him- we will have a scholarship for you in a few weeks, so don't commit elsewhere, and we'll get back to you. That is a way to keep multiple recruits on hold until Indiana decides which one, if any, to take.

....Brandon Young (out of DC), who had verballed to DePaul
now wants out of his commitment (LOI) and is looking elsewhere....he is projected as a possible starter at either guard spot.

now a new premium report on the IU Rivals site says indeed Brandon Young is interested in Indiana....and is a recruiting target...

This just adds to the list of players who are possibly candidates for whatever scholarships Indiana has, even though they appear to actually have none unless someone leaves.......

also, 5-Star Austin Rivers, who was committed to Florida, just decommitted last night, and his brother Jeremiah Rivers
is already at Indiana..........Probably Tom Crean will try to lure Austin to IU!
Indiana also just offered this point guard out of New Jersey...and recall they don't have an open ride until 2012.
"Indiana has remained involved, Coach (Tom) Crean has offered me a scholarship,"
said Gibbs. "They have been there and I am still considering them highly.
He offered me I think back near the start of my sophomore season.
I definitely plan on visiting Indiana," said Gibbs. "He (Coach Crean) has been to my school
a number of times and I definitely love the tradition of Indiana. I love Coach Crean as a coach,
and you can't go wrong with a program like Indiana."

IU fans on their boards are bewildered that Crean is wasting his time duking it out with Bradley & Illinois State for a recruit when 5-Star guys are still out there!

I'm really hoping Indiana signs one of these guys, if a scholarship actually opens up for them.

That would eliminate IU, it sounds like Iowa St. is looking elsewhere. So that would leave it between Illinois St. and Bradley. I would hope we could land him despite his father going there in that scenario, but man it would hurt if we couldn't.

I am not sure about wanting to go where your father did....how many times does that happen...

Hersey's kids? MJ's ?

I am guessing that most want to blaze their own path .....IMHO

That's a good point. Tyler Les said that exact thing about wanting to create his own path.

One of our starting guards, perhaps...

I may not be terribly knowledgeable on my ISU history, but is his dad held in as high esteem at ISU as Hersey is here?

There is big difference between a basketball crazy place like Bradley and being a legends son, compared to a mediocre basketball fanbase like ISU.

good point JMM...and SamM is doing just fine...

Appears that IU has lost out for Abraham............

Matt Carlino..the one time IU recruit who Indiana pulled their offer from so they could free up a scholarship when they went for John Wilkins...has now reverballed to UCLA!!

I am going to go with....JW goes to Indiana and gets absolutely dominated.

And this is why we want JW at BU so passionately?

I not into recruiting players who wouldn't be able to cut it at BCS schools

Sorry to bring up other successful small schools as a comparison, but, Butler doesn't recruit kids who wouldn't be able to cut it at BCS schools..and apparently UNI doesn't either!

I am just hoping he doesn't become a super star wherever he goes so I am not so upset
