Bradley is now reported to be recruiting Jalen James. He is a 6'3" point guard who initially committed to Illinois in June of 2011 when Bruce Weber recruited him at Chicago Hope Academy. He transferred to La Lumiere Prep School in LaPorte, Indiana last January to complete the last 1 1/2 years of his high school career. However, after Weber was fired, James decided to de-commit and reopen his recruiting. He played AAU ball with the Illinois Wolves.

In this recent Rivals article, he lists the following schools as recruiting him-

WKU, Depaul, Boston College, Washington State, Bradley, Nevada, Oregon State, and Eastern Illinois are some of the schools that have been checking him out at open gym, after he decommitted from Illinois when the Fighting Illini' and former head coach Bruce Weber parted ways.

"I'm still wide open right now though," James said.

I'm a little confused by this.
We aren't going after AJ Riley because we are full up at guard with Fields & Grier onboard.. but now are recruiting this kid?

He is a great kid....I followed him through social media since he committed to U of I originally....

From what I have heard.....it was more of a coaches severing ties situation then him decommitting because of Weber leaving....

Talent wins out in these cases. Perhaps the coaches believe this guy can come in right away and play. AJ maybe a player that would take a year or two to develop into a consistent contributor and Geno just does not have that luxury.

The question isn't about which guard is better or able to play sooner.
The question is, if we are done recruiting guards, why are we recruiting a guard?

Jalen James committed to San Jose State.

Jalen James, a point guard that Bradley passed on in the recruiting class of 2013, eventually landed at San Jose State. He is starting at an off-guard position, and playing a major role as a freshman with the Spartans.
Today he had a triple-double in San Jose State's upset at University of Houston. James played 38 minutes, scored 12 points, had 13 rebounds, and had 10 assists.

He is averaging 9.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg, and 3.3 apg on the season.

Bradley, even with all their tremendous talent and NBA players, has only had ONE triple double ever...

And it was a girl in the woman's program who did it.

I didn't know a BU women's player who recorded a "triple-double". Who was it?

There was one Bradley men's player who did it in the entire 110 year history of the basketball program. It is mentioned in the footnote here-

NOTES: Cal Criddle recorded the only triple-double in the history of Bradley Basketball Feb. 28, 1970 versus Saint Louis at Robertson Memorial Field House. Criddle finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in Bradley’s 82-74 win against the Billikens. In addition to setting the school single-game record, O’Bryant’s nine rejections are at least the most by any Missouri Valley Conference player since Creighton’s Benoit Benjamin blocked 12 shots at Bradley Feb. 2, 1985 in a triple-double performance.
