Here's an interesting story on how Jim Les is in part responsible for Florida's fine run to the NCAA Finals.
Back in 1988, (present Florida coach) Billy Donovan entered the Utah Jazz training camp confident of being their backup point guard playing behind John Stockton. Donovan had experience, having played in 44 games the preceding season with the Knicks.
But the Utah Jazz brought in free agent Jim Les and cut Donovan instead.
Donovan then decided to end his efforts to become an NBA player, and gravitated towards coaching, ultimately landing the head coaching job at Florida. The rest is history, and both Donovan & Jim Les ended up as college coaches.
