But my money is on him signing with the Atlanta Braves. He recently bought a massive home in Atlanta.
The Cubs missed out on free agent catcher Russell Martin, who signed a 5-year, $82 million deal with the Toronto Blue Jays. That is significantly more than Yadier Molina makes, who most consider the best catcher in baseball. It is an amazing figure for a catcher who will be 32 years old by the beginning of next season, has a lifetime batting average of .259, and has averaged 13 HR and 60 RBI per season, and is an above average defensive catcher, but he has never lead the league in any defensive category.
ESPN recently ranked MLB catchers, and rated Martin 10th best in the major leagues.
