Jordan Prosser

Time to take off the RS for Jordan too? Gonna need one big with some mental toughness in the Valley. Freshman or not, just some effort out there would be refreshing.

You have a valid question here, but somehow, I still don't see us taking the red shirt status from Prosser....

The thing that troubles me most about Prosser redshirting is the fact we were told that of all our freshman recruits he was more ready to play then any of them, from what we have seen so far from our lack of any consistency in the post I have a hard time believing he could not help us more now, Singh has gone down hill, Thompson plays too soft like he is afraid of contact, Egolf just lacks experience, no doubt jordan will be much better his final season but it seems like we are willing to sacrifice too much now unless he is not as good as advertised.

I think Prosser might refuse to come off of his redshirt at this point. Seeing how we don't use players in his position to do anything but set ball screens on the perimeter, I wouldn't be surprised if he was re-evaluating his options.

I would love to see JP and TB share the 4 spot.....MK is more of a 3 and will not get to many rebounds(MK 's game is shooting the 3).....JP would flourish in that roll IMO! In addition to getting boards his FT shooting would be a welcome sight!

I think Jordan has to play the 5.

I am not sure I agree.

Let's think about it a minute. Do you think JP was doing great in practice against the current players? I think we all want JP to do well but it is much harder for a big to come in and contribute as a freshman....and he's 6'7 or so.

A little different than 6'10 or so. Then playing against kids 2-4 years older then him......I'm not saying he wouldn't contribute at all but he would be inconsistent as anybody as a freshman.

It is easier for a guard to come in and contribute as a freshman than a big man IMO

I think if JL thought JP was better than who we have he would be playing now.....

i think a solid case could be made that Les might not be capable of evaluating the talent he has when it comes to his bigs. Singh has regressed more than any other senior I've seen. I don't know what's wrong with him right now. Prosser surely can't be any worse tahn what we've seen

I see your point, and I do agree that it's easier for a guard than a big to make the transition. However, I agree with fanatic in that I am not sure we have the staff that's capable of assessing, let alone utilizing, interior talent. I heard JP was 'adjusting' to the speed of this level early on, and I had no problem with the redshirt. As I said in an earlier post, I wouldn't dare come off the redshirt at this point. No reason to waste a year on a season that's going nowhere, which is why I feel for Eastman right now.

I suppose some could make that case, but I would disagree. I believe Coach Les, with all his years of experience playing and coaching basketball, is knowledgeable, qualified, and capable of evaluating talent, including big men. In fact, I would love to know what the qualifications are of those who gratuitously rip on him for every facet of his job.

The example you gave of Sam Singh not progressing is hardly fair- could it have something to do with his 2 lost seasons due to injury, 2 major knee reconstructions which slow him down, and prevent him from jumping much, and a shoulder reconstruction, too?

I could name other big men who did progress under Jim Les-
Will Egolf, Taylor Brown, Theron Wilson, Matt Salley, Zach Andrews, Patrick O'Bryant, Marcellus Sommerville, Anthony Thompson and Milos Knezevic. I think we'll continue to see AT, Milos, and Jordan Prosser progress in the future.

Agree completely. TB is the best example...his improvement has been amazing. One of the best one year improvements I've seen from any player since JC under JL. I also will through Rashad Austin's name out as having improved a lot throughout his one year here under JL.

yeah I agree with all that....is Eastman definitely off? Is he hurt somewhat and can he be back on.......my head hurts with all this

I talked to his father who was at the game Wednesday. Jake sprained his ankle in practice a couple days earlier and it was described as a pretty severe sprain. His dad thought he would be out maybe as much as a couple weeks.

If that's the case, let him RS. Play Phillips.

Yeah, I don't think it's like a "thing" that you apply for. Just that once you've appeared in a game for your team during a season it counts as one of the four seasons. So like, if a player played as a freshman, and then without injury never appeared in a game during their sophomore season, it could be a "redshirt"
