Les's comments to reynolds

According to the article, Les told Reynolds he doesn't comment on player availability. My question is, if he doesn't, who does? Isn't the head coach responsible for knowing if his players are going to play and alerting the media? Why have press conferences if he isn't required to be more open with relevant questions about the state of the program? This is ridiculous. The soap opera that has surrounded Jim's tenure is bordering on unprecedented, and should be more fodder for his eventual ouster. If the team or its members has so little respect for the rules imposed by its leader, that should not only tell you something about them, but also about what kind of leader Jim is.

i wish the program had more transparency and less secrets.personally, i find it insulting as a paying fan(customer).what would be wrong with just being honest instead of this cloak an dagger stuff.

this is nothing new.....the head coach may simply NOT want to give the opposition an advantage knowing who is and who isn't going to be in the lineup.

NO coach I am aware of released his lineup three days before games.

Thats because most opposing teams know who is IN the lineup three days in advance...

Only at this school does this kind of uncertainty happen...

I recall the previous coach deceiving the beat writer on purpose by giving continuous false lineups...

Which doesn't strike me as being any better.

The madness needs to stop. You're into Year 8 now, as they say either s*** or get off the pot!

The madness needs to stop....

Yes, I agree. The madness has to stop.
This thread is about nothing new, and nothing that hasn't already been discussed in numerous other threads.
We know some are unhappy about what has happened and what has or has not been reported. Please, let's not keep starting new threads and saying the same thing over and over again.

Unless new topics arise, we'll consolidate threads that bring up the same subject matter, and delete posts that are repetitive. It's clearly stated in the rules of this forum.

All I can say is I certainly hope the next coach takes us to the Sweet 16 sooner than later, goes BIG for the sake of going BIG, and wins multiple regular season/tournament championships! Of course, that coach probably won't be around long either.

I'd rather dance and win conference titles than finish .500 and going to meaningless spin-off tourneys every year. If it means our coach is using BU as a stepping stone, so be it. Chances are he left the place in better shape than he found it.

I swear, we talk about how great things are at BU, how talented our players are, and how we don't get any respect, but then act like winning a conference title is impossible, and asking that the program be held to that standard is wrong.

Post of the very young year!!

Where are these posts and threads talking about "how great things are at BU"?
I see nothing but innumerable posts and threads criticizing the team, the coach, the program, the players, and everything else, including when timeouts are called, the substitution pattern, the resumes of the coaches, and what comments the coach says to reporters. It is all a little repetetive.
When is enough, enough???
And please don't reply to me with another list of what's wrong, or another list of how many wins/losses Jim Les has, and how we haven't been to a real postseason tournament since 2006.
Everyone wants to see the team win. But not everyone is as miserabkle as some people are here who think they have to keep up the constant drumbeat of negativity as if that will accomplish anything.

tell me if my math is wrong.there 10 teams in the conference. if you win the conference 1 time in ten years=you are average.if you win the conference tourney 1 time in 10 years=you are average.when is the last time we won the conference and when was the last time we won the valley tournament? is our expectations too high?

When the time comes I hope we do not use this type of rational as a justification not to hire someone. If we were entertaining a guy that would use us as a stepping stone I would hope we also will make him develop a strong program with assistance that could take over the program without missing a beat i.e. Butler and Gonzaga. This argument does not fly with me. Now on the comment of this thread.

Like it or not it is JL's program and he can announce who is playing and not tell us, why others are not, all he wants as long as it does not break any NCAA rules. I'd listen and respect some of the naysayers a lot more if they were not picking apart every little detail and thing that JL does. I too would like to know more but the fact is if it helps the team to keep these things under wraps well we all just have to live with it. Also, for the record I still support JL and I have hope for this year's team. We may not have the win loss record we all wish but this team still has potential. From here on out we will see what type of coach JL is. This will be his most challenging 6 months as a BU coach.

Personally, I don't think it is my right as a paying fan to know all the details of a coaches decision.
I pay to see the team play, not to help make decisions. Since I am not in on the decision making process why do I need to know all the details?
If TB did something to warrant this suspension, then so be it. Doesn't matter if he is the best player or a walk-on.

Turning a blind eye to the problems will accomplish something?

The natives are restless with the product on the floor, and this is a very popular medium to discuss Bradley basketball. When BU basketball is good, people come here to talk about it and find information about it. When BU basketball is struggling, people come here to talk about it and find information about it.

My problem here...we haven't even finished as high as THIRD...

In a thread awhile back, I listed that every team, but I believe Evansville and Indiana State has finished as high as 3rd in the conference since Les has been around, and most have either won the conference or the conference tournament since his hiring.

Now I will say that not all of this is of his doing given the injuries and other occurences within the program, BUT it is what it is, and sometimes, regardless of the circumstances, you just can not overcome underachievement.

I agree w/ BB...I would rather be a Western Kentucky or a Butler than an Indiana State where we're used as a stepping stone, instead of let someone hang around too long because of one or two good years.

I like Les as a person, but results are just that, and if he continues to underachieve, then we need to get someone else in there that won't.

**Regardless of what some has said, we all expected to be higher than a 6 this year**

The natives are restless with the product on the floor......

then why do 10,000 continue to show up?
I know there are some that are unhappy, but due to the message boards and blogs, they have a disproportionately loud (and repetetive) voice...
I think we are a long way from the coach getting fired and starting all over again the way Evansville, NIU, and Drake have done.

Indiana is playing well with their best player out....and Bradley played fairly well with one of our best players out...interesting...
maybe having TB out will end up being a blessing in disguise.
BTW - all the threads discussing Indiana are pretty clearly marked as such, and no law requires to must read them...so why do they seem to bother you? Plus, you have to go back a week to even find one...
Anyway, please don't deprive me of one of life's pleasures....seeing what's left of Bobby Knight's bully pulpit and Kelvin Sampson's den of lies writhe in mediocrity...

Did you hear the boos on Friday? People can show up and still be unhappy with the program, you know. I mean, before I left Peoria, I was a season ticket holder. I would go because I paid for the tickets and I'm a fan of the team. That doesn't change the fact that I'm displeased with the product on the floor.

"... a long way" is relative. Define that please. Furthermore, I haven't suggested that Jim be fired. Do I question if his seat is getting warmer? Of course.
