Even with classes having begun Monday in Columbia, Mizzou men's basketball recruit Ricardo Ratcliffe still is in Florida.
But he said in a phone interview Tuesday afternoon that he will be cleared to be eligible at Missouri this season if he finishes with a "C" or better in an online math class he is completing this week.
Ratliffe, a 6-foot-8 forward out of Central Florida Community College, was one of the nation's most coveted junior college players. He said he wished he could have been done and in Columbia by now but laughed and added, "But it's better than missing a whole year."
Ratliffe said he had not signed up for classes yet at MU but expected to do so upon arrival. The last day to add classes for the 16-week fall term is Monday, according to the registrar's office.
After initially saying Ratliffe was enrolled, the office now says he was admitted but not enrolled.
Ratliffe said he was unsure of the status of fellow recruit Tony Mitchell, a 5-star forward from Dallas. Mitchell was not enrolled at MU as of Tuesday morning.
Mitchell did not graduate with his high school class in the spring but is believed to have graduated this summer. Even if so, he needed to earn standardized test scores that would combine with his high school grade-point average to meet NCAA minimum standards.
