I stayed at the Renaissance this past March. It was nice - in a so-so way IMO. Actually had reservations elsewhere (across the street and down a block for a couple bucks more - honestly, a couple bucks more) but changed reservations on the day before the tourney (Wednesday) to be in Bradley's hotel. Wound up in the Suites across the street from the hotel and I didn't see Bradley's team or many Bradley fans there. But I did meet Adam Emenecker's girlfriend and Adam's sister. I got pictures!
I walked to the arena most of the time hitting a couple joints for a pint (or two) on the way (and many more on the way back).
Stay somewhere on or close to Washington Ave. That whole Ave and area is being built up pretty nice. And it is honestly not a terrible walk to the arena and back. But even then - cabs are fairly easy to get.
Heck - St Louis is easy to manage and get around... Period.
We re-book our hotel each March when we are there. (Hampton Inn) Always a fun time in St. Louis. Myself, Braveman, JD (who posts on the other board) and 3 or 4 other basketball fans go down every year.
