New DJ Richardson Story

This one has a few odd connections.

It reports that DJ is going to attend a high level high school basketball camp.
That wouldn't be too out of the ordinary, except for the details...

--it is in New Mexico, at the University of New Mexico
--it is the first annual Coach Steve Alford's Lobo Elite Camp
--and DJ is being "brought" by ex-Decatur Christian head coach Alan Huss,

"(Huss)...a Chicago-area high school coach who will bring five players to the camp.

Two top-40 players from the 2009 class (incoming juniors) will attend, coach Alan Huss said.

Huss, former high school coach of University of New Mexico signee Darrington Hobson and former Lobo recruit Beas Hamga at Decatur (Ill.) Christian...

Huss is bringing Hobson, guard D.J. Richardson - the 33rd-ranked player in the 2009 class - and three other players to Albuquerque."

"This could be the most talented elite camp in the country," said Huss, who got the list of players from the UNM coaching staff. "At Iowa, they did a good job with the camp, and when they got the UNM job, they started working immediately. It shows."

Recall that one of Huss' ex-Decatur players, Darrington Hobson, is already going to New Mexico, and one other was previously committed to Steve Alford at Iowa, but then backed out when Alford left.
Beas Hamga also then considered New Mexico but ended up at UNLV.

There appears to be some connection between Huss & Alford. Could Huss end up as an assistant there?

Here is one guys assessment of this on a premium board:
"Huss is best buddies with the coach of Indiana Elite (Mark Adams)... The interest is mutual between Indiana Elite, Mark Adams, Steve Alford, Alan Huss.... Is Alford dirty? I dont know but Indiana Elite is crooked... I saw a certain college coach at an open gym recently and it wasnt even a viewing period. Im not gonna say who but there is shadiness in the Indiana Elite Program. Huss is trying to find an assistant coaching job asap. If Huss delivers Beas Hamga, Darrington Hobson, now maybe DJ Richardson dont be surprise to see Huss coaching at New Mexico soon. I had heard a rumor that Huss was going to be going to Pepperdine with Hobson before he decommitted. Illinois coaches arent going to be playing that game therefore the lack of interest"

PS--- an additional rumor to contemplate...
Dan Dakich as new assistant to Kelvin Sampson at IU?

according to some chatter on the other boards....DJ Richardson was scheduled to go to Champaign for a visit to Illinois this weekend, and he didn't show up.

Supposedly the reason that was given was that he changed his mind and went to a friend's wedding instead.
Sounds like a strange reason given that weddings are on the claendar months in advance, and it shouldn't have been so unexpected.

Anyway....there's also talk that Richardson still has a great relationship with Chuck Buescher, and that Bradley is still very, very much in the mix.

Here are some comments...

"(DJ)...received a new offer today. U of Miami extended the offer. Also, Bradley was the first to call. In addition to Bradley and Miami calling, Baylor and Virginia has called.

His visit to Champaign was cancelled, as he was told Bruce is out of town for a wedding."

When the Illini fans learn DJ isn't coming, they start to unload on him.

By the way....the DePaul fans still can't get over the blowout they received last year in Peoria:

(ps-- nothing personal DePaul guys....I am still a big DePaul fan, too, just like to see that you guys still remember that game!)

Not surprised to see Depaul take the same path as UIUC when it comes to playing us. They are BigEast now. That's BCS... just like B10. Time to start scheduling as if above bottom feeders in the MVC. Only good enough to play other BCS conferences and then a handful of buy games with 250+ rpi teams.

So sell the lie as if they are better... pretty soon the lie becomes accepted as truth. The blowout at Carver (and 3 of last 4 matchups a loss) becomes some distant memory that musta only occured in a time before real basketball actually ever started.
