New NCAA rule allows scrimmages between teams

I did not know this, but a recent NCAA rule allows teams to have scrimmages between D-I teams instead of exhibition games against non-D-I teams.

Stanford will face Nevada in one of these scrimmages in October, but nobody is allowed to watch, not fans, not even the media.

I wouldn't be surprised to see UIUC schedule one of these as a road game in the MVC. (likely at SIU)

ISU has done this the past 2 seasons with Ball State.

Schools probably aren't allowed to make money off the scrimmages (i.e. from ticket sales)

Not sure I buy into that.

First of all, these are 'exhibitions' - not 'scrimmages'.

Secondly, doesn't Bradley sell hot dogs and chips as well as charge an entrance fee to get into even the Red/White? So doesn't that money go somewhere related to Men's Bradley Basketball?
