Next year's schedule

Does anyone know who is already penciled in for next year's schedule? Obviously, we know about the MVC games and home vs. Michigan State, Iowa State, VCU and Bracketbuster. I also believe we're taking a trip to Hinkle Fieldhouse? What about DePaul?

We do begin a 4 game series with Butler, starting at their place. However I don't think we are playing Depaul. I think Wright State might be on the slate again? Thats the little that I know :)

That's correct. We travel to Dayton next season to play Wright State, and Jerry Wainwright came out after the season opener and said that because of how the new Big East schedule was developed they "probably can't fit us on their schedule anymore," ... aka they were prolly tired of their program getting worked every year by us.

Wainwright is a tool! If he can't stand playing us, how is he supposed to prepare his team for the rigors of the Big East schedule? Unbelievable!

If DePaul can't "fit us in" next year, it would be interesting to see who they get instead (Chicago State, Western Illinois?). I was checking out some teams Bradley could play next year that would be beneficial to us and the would-be opponents too. In checking teams that are doing well this year and only lose one or two key players, you'd have to assume they'll be decent in 2007-08. Possibilities might include: Vermont, Holy Cross, Davidson, South Alabama, North Dakota State, Santa Clara, and Gonzaga. Some of these schools might play in low-major conferences, but they ought to be pretty tough competition nonetheless. I think they are probably better now than Southern Mississippi and UIC are. Gonzaga will not be playing Washington next year as Lorenzo Romar wants no part of the Zags! Maybe we could renew a nice rivalry with St. Louis University. The Bills and Braves had some epic clashes in the Valley in the 50's and 60's. VMI also has a young team that's fun to watch. They could be a possibility too.

Home games next year:

Michigan St
Iowa St
VCU
BracketBuster

Road games next year:

Wright St
Butler
Loyola

I know we're looking to play in some sort of tournament in the non-conference schedule, and will probably want to add a home game or 2 (preferably of the easier variety, but not an RPI killer). As it looks right now, this is a brutal schedule. Every team on our current non-con schedule with the exception of Iowa St won 20 games this year, and even Iowa St is improving and will keep getting better. Michigan St will likely be ranked, Butler returns almost everyone, VCU returns almost everyone, Wright St returns almost everyone.

I agree, this schedule is nasty, we really do need some easier games or we'll be dead by Jan 1.

I wouldn't mind playing SLU. It's tough because playing any lower teams is a liability nowadays for mid majors because if you lose it really hurts, whereas a major can brush it off. I think already we're looking at at top 25 SOS again next year depending on how the MVC shapes up.

I agree it will be tough but that kind of schedule makes it easy to write those checks for the seats. Great job by the staff. I can't wait. A bus trip to Butler could work too.

Do you think these non-con teams will help BU establish an attendance record at the CC next year?

You betcha..... :)

That's the kind of home schedule I want when I purchase my season tickets. Not one like we used to have when we played in the Fieldhouse

I hope everyone is watching the Wright St-Butler game. We travel to both of their home gyms next year. Both teams are going to be very good again. Both are going to be VERY tough places to win. VERY tough.

How'd we beat Wright St. by 40 if they're so tough? And ... if they're so tough, why aren't we getting credit for killing them?

I heard Bradley is trying to establish a home and away with two Pac 10 schools in the coming future...USC is one possibility, any would be nice. A tough and brutual schedule does not scare me one bit because a good team can handle a this challenge...Bradley will be this team.

We were on fire and at home things happen early in the season. We are not 29 points worse then Michigan St either. We will get what ever credit is due for beating them but in reality they will take a spot away from a bubble team if they win.

Wright St returns most of there players, it wont be an easy game next year.

Wright State is dancing.

Someone's bubble just burst. Hopefully not ours (if it wasn't already popped on Saturday).

The at-large field just got smaller, but our resume just got better.

Hey braveforlife, I wish BU could arrange a home and home series with Arizona St. They didn't have a very good season, but they were in every game. Very inexperienced and a new coach, Herb Sendek, from North Carolina St, didn't help. They did beat USC. They have a very good recruiting class coming in and big things are expected in the next few years. Besides, I could see the game out here in Az. There are a lot of ex-Peorians and BU fans out here.
