Maybe we have all bought into the Wichita State hype and put the crown on the wrong team this season. UNI is looking pretty darned good I think? Oh yeah I almost forgot....The Shockers didn't win in St. Louis last year did they? Who did...........the Northern Iowa Panthers I do believe?

They are gonna contend to be sure. BTW, nice road game last night. Enjoyed watching you beat SLU.
 
UNI's RPI and SOS are both Top 40...but all other MVC teams seem to have played themselves out of contention for at-large consideration....

Wichita might still duck under the wire with a winning streak... they have RPI of 69 but do have a Top 10 SOS
Evansville (RPI 126, SOS 283),
SIU (RPI 110, SOS 261),
ISU (RPI 178, SOS 73),
and Loyola (RPI 236, SOS 248 )
...all have either decent records or were heavily talked up early on as contenders or possible at-large teams - but seem way out of contention.

Here's something puzzling...almost every team is shooting worse than last year and we haven't even gotten to the conference games where defenses play you tougher...
Last year only BU & Missouri State shot under 33% from the arc, but thus far this year half the league is down there.

If they didn't have any bad losses I'd agree. They have a couple bad losses to go along with those wins though. Home vs Colorado State? The same New Mexico that just lost to Rice? They have the talent to play with anyone, just depends on if they show up to play. So far they haven't every game.

I am not opposed to a little fun smack talk, and I personally believe Wichita State is a better team than UNI once they get their injured starters all back, But I disagree a little with the "bad losses" argument. Yes, the Colorado State (RPI 172) loss at home is a bad loss, but losses at Richmond (RPI 60) and at New Mexico (RPI 78 ) are not as bad. Those are 2 tough teams and tough places to win, and with the wins over UNC and at Iowa State, I don't think those losses with hurt UNI much. Now if they lose at Hawaii (their last non-conference game) that might be a little too much.

I am glad to see a couple other MVC teams emerging as potential at-large candidates (UNI and Evansville) in addition to WSU, so that the conference might be able to get more than 1 bid next March.

I agree with that. CSU was a bad loss... at home. The Richmond loss isn't bad on the face value of RPI, but they got blown out. The New Mexico loss is worse, they got destroyed, then New Mexico turns around and loses to Rice at home. So "bad" might be an overstatment, but they are factors. The 2 good wins offset the 1 really bad, and 2 kind of bad losses in my opinion. They still have their tourney, so lets hope they can run through that. WSU needs a couple more RPI Top 50 wins to get an at-large.

I still think its WSU's league to lose. They are finally getting healthy, and have two easier games before the league starts to finally set a rotation. That rotation should stick until Shamet returns hopefully in February.

As much as I would love that ... Lunardi has WSU as the AQ from the MVC. So not saying he would put them in as an At-Large.

Palm hasn't updated his bracket since the 16th.
