ChicagoHoops just posted their preseason picks for All-City Of Chicago Basketball 1st Team and 2nd Team

Sam Maniscalco was named to the 2nd team. Pretty impressive, considering all the great guards in Chicago--

Aaron Johnson PG Chicago Hubbard
DeAndre Liggins Guard Chicago Washington
Brandon McGee Forward Chicago Crane
Mac Koshwal Forward Chicago Boys To Men
Tim Flowers Power Forward Chicago Simeon

2nd team>>
Michael Thompson Point Guard Chicago Lincoln Park
Sam Maniscalco Point Guard Chicago St. Patrick
Mike Stovall Shooting Guard Chicago Marshall
Matthew Humphrey Shooting Guard Chicago Hales Franciscan
Ryan Hare Small Forward Chicago Marshall
Michael Dunigan Center Chicago Farragut

Congrats to Sam.
Look at who are the only two point guards ahead of him.
#1 is Derrick Rose, one of the top 3 or 4 players nationally and a guy that nbadraft.net has listed at their selection for the #1 overall draft piock in the 2008 NBA Draft.
and #2 is Aaron Johnson, a 3-star kid who was heavily recruited by several majors before commiting to UAB.
Rivals now has both Aaron Johnson and Sam Maniscalco as 3-STARS.

Congrats to Sam..............keep it up ...............we look forward to your time on the Hilltop!

Has Flowers committed? If not is BU still looking at him?

Flowers has not committed yet. He has offers from several midmajor schools, and is waiting to see if he can do better.

The latest report had him at the Midnight Madness at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee last Friday--

UWM would NOT be a "better offer"...  I know Bbrave stated he thought we could "do better" than Flowers (I think it was Bbrave) but the kid just seems like a player and a scrapper?

Whats the deal with him....too undersized for the next level...Charles cough cough...Barkley..cough cough?

It was me...and we CAN and WILL do better than Tim Flowers. He's a nice high school player...but like Sergio McClain is too small to play inside at the next level, and to slow to play guard.

I won't "argue" with you as I have never seen the kid play but I will play devils advocate. Some undesized guys can just plain get it done in spite of physical shortcomings. Everything you read or hear about this kid suggests he might be that type. I dunno. While serg may have not had the tools to go to the NBA he wasn't a bad B10 guy. I think he would have done much better, at that time, in the Valley.

Maybe the Valley is "better" than Flowers now....what offers, if any, does he have?

What????

I thought all the Illini fans loved 'Clank' McClain down at UIUC. Especially the 'I'm-a-Bradley-and-Illini' fan cause they are typically pro-anything/anybody-Peoria (except when it comes to the High School State Tourney being held in Peoria and not in C-U).

But if you think Flowers is a lot like 'Clank' McClain - then I would have to agree and say we can do better.

Sergio McClain was a great high school player and a very average college player. Flowers is an undersized post who's going to find his niche in a mid- to low-major program. As I said before, BU can and will do better.
