Cal wouldn't be an experiment. Not even close. With the exception of Scott Skiles, he'd be the most accomplished NBA coach they've hired in decades. If you recall Doug Collins, Phil Jackson, Tim Floyd, Bill Cartwright, Jim Boylan, and Vinny Del Negro all were given their first shot at NBA head coaching by the Bulls. Cal already had that learning experience with the New Jersey Nets a decade ago. The Bulls under Jerry Reinsdorf have always gone with cheap, inexperienced coaches. It's what they do, and a big part of why they're bad. Cal would be going against their normal philosophy, which is something they desperately need to do. Plus, he's already got an established rapport with our best player, and is good friends with the agent of several of our free agent targets. I'm not saying Cal is the best candidate for the job, but I think he's a pretty darn good one.
