Siu @ isu

also..Mullins ended the game without an assist....first game he's played in 3 years and didn't get an assist.

Mullins has missed games or played injured a whole lot in the past year....
repeatedly sprained ankle, bum knee, he "broke his nose" against Drake, he resprained his ankle against Creighton, and "caught a wicked knee to his thigh versus Bradley, which left a deep bruise."

Here's an odd comment from Mullins......

"In fact, after Sunday's game, Mullins asked Lowery if the team could
take a day off, and the coach agreed."

Ok.......he asked for a day off........hmm......is the toughness gone?
Has he just reached his fill of wear and tear?
So it was the game against Bradley that caused him to ask for some R&R?
Did it help?
Well, their first game after their one day vacation, they beat Indiana State, but then everyone does
...then they lost to ISU....with all their starters except Boyle (who scored just 2 pts more than his average) doing poorly and way under their averages....and even Boyle only grabbed 3 rebounds, way under his average.
Maybe subtraction by deletion?

I like the guy, but asking for a day off:!: As for all his injuries, we have a guy that's been through a hell of a lot worse than he has and for that fact there is NO Other player playing this year that has been through the injuries and surgeries he has and all he does is come to (bang) with the big ones every night. Keep playing SS we need you big guy:!::biggrin:

As team captain and elder statesman I'm sure Mullins was asking more for the team than himself. He was probably approached by other battered, tired SIU players who were afraid to approach Lowery (the dictator).

Nothing wrong with asking for a day off....we all have and can usually come back energized.

I don't think I'd ever question Mullins work ethic...attitude or want to win

I never questioned Mullins ethic or attitude. The day off just sounded out of character for him but maybe B4L had the right answer to it.

He is the team leader and I see nothing wrong with him asking the coach to give their team a day off as it is a long season. He has always been a workhorse so I also wouldn"t question his character.

I agree. I'm glad ISU won because as long as they keep winning then we keep our marquee win.

Then we dispose of them at their place and move a game ahead of them. :D

Only in the MVC would this be considered a marquee win! I believe our only hope of making it to the NCAA is to win it all down in St. Louis or the outside chance, and I mean real outside, would be for us to win all the rest of our games make it to the final game so we can say we won like 14 of our last 15.
