Slightly OT: Markin Center

I had a chance to walk through the Markin Center yesterday and it is looking outstanding. The pool is done and full, with the locker rooms nearly finished. They were working on last minute things such as railings, painting, etc... It looks OUTSTANDING, and I strongly suggest everyone sees it as soon as possible. This building is going to be a great addition to campus!

I do not find this post even slightly OT. These facilities will be part of the infrastructure and base of our ability to recruit. Now you could have taken a few pics and posted them if you were a bit concerned. Thanks for the update.

I'm planning as posing as a grad student and using my student ID for at least 2 years to take advantage of the Markin Center.

I got an email from the President's office the other day which included an invatation to the opening cerimonies. They are set for Oct. 23 at 10 AM. Did any other students get the email? I didn't know if all students were invited or if it was just random.

I think only the elite students got that invitation...

BTW--other private ceremonies and introductions are also being arranged.

I don't think so T....I got one also

I'm not what you would call an elite

I think they want as many students there as possible

Well, then. I'm not going if the non-elite students get to go as well.

I look down my nose at you. I fart in your general direction. Your mother was a hampster, and your father smelt of elderberries.

It looks like the landscaping for the Markin Center was finished up this afternoon. I haven't been inside yet but the place looks amazing from the outside.

I just got wind that the Markin Center will be available to alumni only as a guest of a student, faculty, or staff member. $5/visit.

I suppose I understand - they don't want old fogies hittin' on all the cute coeds.

This was confirmed today in a meeting I was in. But this will likely only continue for the remainder of the school year until they understand the usage pattern for the students.

This building really adds to the college experience and thrust the old campus into the current century and beyond! This will stand out in any campus tour for future students and gives BU something to build on! Now on to the new fieldhouse! :D

Awesome. I think that graduates over the last 20 years or so are saying "Why couldn't that have been there when I was in school?". I know I am.
