Suggestion To MVC Doug Elgin - PROMOTE THE MVC

The MVC out to take out TV advertising on CBS during the next round of the NCAA's when UNI plays listing the Valley school's NCAA Tourney successes in the past 10 years by UNI, Creighton, Bradley, Southern Illinois, Wichita State etc. Aim it at high school players as a recruiting tool for the Valley....throw in athletic highlights from various former and current Valley players, with references to Valley players in the NBA, POB, Korver, etc. and get some EXPOSURE!!

Use some of UNI's NCAA payout and other Valley Teams NIT payouts to help pay for the ads!! Strike while the iron is hot.

UNI was the only decent team in the MVC this year.

Yeah, but we're talking about an ad citing what the conference has accomplished cumulatively the last decade or so. That can only help attract recruits to our conference, and maybe it will force the "talking heads" to do their research and get their facts straight.

How about they use the money to actually schedule some decent opponents? That will give everyone a better shot at the tourney next year.

how about we use the money to buy things for potential recruits...like houses and cars....then we will all have better players and better teams.....therefore more success.

I like this idea a lot. Some research will illustrate that the MVC is clearly the 7th best conference over the last few years and we get treated like we're a nothing conference. Start educating people, commish!

UNI"S and Bradleys wins over Kansas is why it is so hard to get any big name teams to play you, sure if you want to go on the road and play them with their officials you have a better chance as far as scheduling them but little chance at winning , I would not mind seeing the Valley trying to work out another challenge with possibly the MAC and then you get 2 challenge games a season, one at home and one on the road.

This is what the MVC ought to promote during the Sweet 16 for the conference...in ads similar to the 'Conference ads' displayed during college football games on TV.

This is from DR at PJS 3/22 (after my 3/20 post BTW!)

"The real fact about the Valley is that Sweet 16s have become almost commonplace for a league that doesn??™t get much national respect. This is the eighth time an MVC team has reached the Sweet 16 since 1994.

What is most notable about that is the six programs who did so accomplished the feat despite poor seeds on six of the eight occasions. So they had to beat two favorites to get there.

And then there??™s this gem: The Valley has received just 33 total bids from 1994-2010, meaning nearly one of every four MVC NCAA bids during those years has resulted in a Sweet 16 appearance.

Here is the list:

1994 ??” #12 Tulsa (UCLA, Oklahoma State)

1995 ??” #6 Tulsa (Illinois, Old Dominion)

1999 ??” #12 Southwest Missouri State (Wisconsin, Tennessee)

2002 ??” #13 Southern Illinois (Texas Tech, Georgia)

2006 ??” #13 Bradley (Kansas, Pittsburgh)

2006 ??” #7 Wichita State (Seton Hall, Tennessee)

2007 ??” #4 Southern Illinois (Holy Cross, Virginia Tech)

2010 ??” #9 UNI (UNLV, Kansas)"
