The Bradley Braves in 1st Place....

You guys are no fun. Just trying to be optimistic

Technically speaking though, yesterday there was no first place. There is no first place until at least one game has been played.

And one more thing. I am disappointed in the lack of discussion following this W tonight. Why are very few on this board talking about a great win? On the other hand, we lose to Portland and have a five page thread on that. I don't get it.

It's a great win, and we can check off a win against one of the seven teams we did not beat last year. But there is a long way to go, though even 6 or 7 wins would be a good season. I'm hoping for 9 or more though as anything is possible.

I'm not sure I would consider this a "great win". Coming into the game, Bradley was 104 according to Sagarin and Drake was 149. Bradley was a 7.5-point favorite to win this home game and won by 10. I believe we only trailed once the entire game, and that was only by 1 point. That part was impressive, but I fully expected to beat this Drake team on our home court. I was also impressed with the way we would push the lead back to double-digits whenever Drake seemed to be making a run.

That said, I absolutely love watching this team play defense! Offense, not so much....unless it's transition offense coming from their defense.

It appears the players really love playing defense, which helps a lot!

To me, this was a game we "should win"......a home game against a probable Thursday team in STL. I think Drake will be towards the bottom of the 5-9 teams and Bradley will be towards the top of that group of teams.

I think we have a good chance to get a road win at SIU, but that will probably be a tougher game than we had tonight.

I think a lot of us are just getting in from a Sat. night out, I agree in that is feels good to win this first conf. game as it hopefully sets the tone for our upcoming games which is why I said earlier about this being a must win game.
