UNI exhibition

UNI wins 71-48, Tuttle 21 pts

Utah State beats Central Methodist 108-88 Spencer Butterfield 20 pts and their other Yuba kid Sean Harris had 6 pts on 2-3 and 3 rebs

Pitt beat UC-San Diego 72-59 in a game much closer than the final score - within 5 points right 'til the end and some Pitt starters playing 36 min.

Mizzou 73 - Oklahoma City 48 - this game was close (51-41) in the late stages but Mizzou closes strong
all four games had a lot of fouls called

Peoria native and ex-Bradley assistant Cindy Stein had her debut at SIU as head coach, and she got a win but it was close..
SIU women beat Maryville 67-60, a game that was tied with 12 min. to go and was just a 2-possession game in the final 2 min.

One other bit of preseason news - the Bucks hosted the Raptors in an NBA preseason game, but as the game started everyone on the floor kept slipping and sliding as the floor conditions were horrible...
After 6 minutes of play and a lot of effort to get the floor playable - the game was called off and the fans sent home!

Niagara beat Roberts Wesleyan 82-44, Manual's Marvin Jordan lead Niagara with 21 pts, 5 rebs, 4 asst, 3 steals!

Evansville played their first preseason exhibition against Trevecca and won 83-40 in a relative laffer...
It was a blowout from the start.
Marty Simmons' son, freshman Blake Simmons, started and had 14 pts, 8 rebs, 4 asst.
Adam Wing had 12/7 and Mockevicius started and was just 1-3, 6 pts, 5 reb
Their bench played a lot of minutes but did not contribute much - even against this weak opponent suggesting they may lack depth.
As we have seen in every early season game - there were plenty of fouls and Evansville went to the FT line 36 times (to 12 for Trevecca) and hauled in 29 points from the line.

Washington's Alec Peters had his debut as Valpo wins 69-60 over Hillsdale - again plenty of fouls & FTs, Lavonte Dority 15, ex-Hoosier Bobby Capobianco was scoreless
Peters started, was 5-10 with 3-4 from the arc, and finished with 17 points, 6 rebs in just 24 minutes .
In fact, the news story credits Peters for taking over in the 2nd half when Valpo was down five and rallying them with a 13-point run!!!
7-footer Moussa Gueye - transfer from Alabama, went 1-4, 4 pts, 4 rebs
Transfer Keith Carter from Saint Louis isn't eligible until 2nd semester (Dec. 21) but did play a bit in an open practice/scrimmage a week ago

IU beat southern Indiana by 15 but the game was a lot closer than the 17K fans wanted
USI actually lead much of the 1st half, it was tied until about 5 min to go, and was even within 2 pts in the 2nd half
IU didn't get a double digit lead until the final 7 minutes, despite an enormous advantage in rebouding (53-32) and an advantage in fouls and FT's (32-7)

Detroit beat Lawrence 93-51 - Juwan Howard, Jr. (who transferred in from Western Michigan) was 11-15 and 28 pts,
Carlton Brundage (who transferred in from Michigan) had 12

BYU beat Colorado College 94-59 with Indiana transfer Matt Carlino scoring 23 pts on 8-12. They draw over 7K

San Diego beat CSU-Monterey 90-81
Maine beat McGill 83-57
Cincy wons 77-63 over Carleton
Portland beat Concordia-Irvine 92-77
Vermont 79 - St. Michaels 72
Stetson 61 - Tampa 59 as Tampa misses a good-look 3 pointer with 0:02 that woulda won it.
Duke over Bowie State 103-67 - Jabari Parker started and went 6-9, 16 pts plus 5 asst
Dayton 89 - Ryerson 62 - ex-BU recruit and highly touted freshman from Simeon, Kendall Pollard struggled - was 0-2 and scoreless, Morgan Park's Kyle Davis had 4 pts

Scoring totals for Missouri State:

Jarmar Gulley 5
Emmanuel Addo 10
Tyler McCullough 9
Marcus Marshall 10
Dorrian Williams 6
Keith Pickens 4
Austin Ruder 16
Michael Simpson 6
Ron Mvouika 5
Devon Thomas 10
Gavin Thurman 10
Nathan Scheer 0
Bruce Marshall 2
Christian Kirk 11

McKendree lead by 6 early on but by the end of the 1st half Missouri State had a comfortable 20-23 pt lead.
The lead never dropped lower than 22 the entire 2nd half

50 total fouls and 68 FT attempts seems to fit an early pattern...

Watch out for Missouri St. this year in the Valley. I could see them finishing Top 3. I think their talent and depth matches BU's pretty well. Just don't have a lot of size down low it appears.
