UNI vs SIU

UNI pulls it out 55-52. SIU had a 47-42 lead when Dillard got poked in the eye and a foul was called. He couldn't shoot the FT's so the UNI coach got to pick who was shooting the FT's. It was a 1 and 1 and SIU missed. This has got to be one of the dumbest rules in the game. UNI shouldn't have benefitted from hurting Dillard. This was the biggest momentum swing in the game. SIU has played so many close games this year and just can't seem to get over the hump. UNI better hope they don't have to play them in St. Louis.

Agree, I just gotta believe that some long nights of drinking led to this rule change!!

if he can't recruit and can't coach, will he be the perfect DePaul hire?

Freeman was wide open and Dillard just refused to give up the rock! I'm not sure if that was the coaches fault. I for one would not of given the ball to Dillard because his choices all night were horrendous. Dillard is a very selfish player.

I guess you watched yesterday's game?

didnt watch the game.but looking at the box score, i can see dillard had an off game. it is hard for me to classify a player who leads the league in assists selfish, but that is just me.even the best players have bad games. dillard leads his team in scoring, assists and steals. he is a good player. for one to generalize what type of player is after watching one game is just not what i do. i seen dillard play many times. i think he is a good player.he like all players, andrew, chris, taylor,etc....might make selfish plays but that in of itself doesn't make them selfish. if you think dillard is a selfish player, then how many selfish players do we have?

Dillard being a selfish player is the opinion of an awful lot of the SIU fans.
I listened to the postgame show on the Saluki radio network last night (they have a 2-hours, call-in postgame show), and even their radio broadcasters labelled Dillard selfish many times, as did numerous callers to the show. They all pretty much blamed Dillard for last night's loss, and all those with an opinion wanted to see Kendal Brown-Surles as the main point guard.

They knew they were getting a shoot-first type of point guard with Dillard, so this should not be such a big surprise.

I can't help but think that UNI's luck is gonna run out soon. Probably next Saturday at Carver, but this veteran team just knows how to win games. I thought for sure SIU had them right where they wanted them, much like we did when we played them, but they battled and did JUST ENOUGH to hold on and win the game. This is what makes me think that The Valley IS a 2 bid conference this year. I really do not think that UNI will win Arch Madness and I DO think that they will get an at-large bid when it is all said and done!

Because they're a veteran team, I would pick them to win the Valley tournament. I'm not saying it's a guarantee, but they are such a poised team and their production can come from anywhere on any given night - good bench too. Even if UNI wins the tournament, Wichita St. has a decent shot at getting an At-Large bid if they finish really strong.
