Illinois State's Dan Muller was trying to land another point guard with one of his remaining 2020 scholarships.
He just got a commitment tonight from junior college point guard Josiah Strong.
Josiah Strong is a 6'2" point guard currently playing at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
He is originally from Champlin Park High School in Champlin, Minnesota. He originally committed to Navy out of high school, and multiple recruiting sites indicate the Navy offer was his only D1 offer. He played in 31 games for Navy in 2018-19, but did not start any games. He averaged 10.5 minutes per game, 3.1 ppg, 0.8 rpg, and 1.0 assists per game as a freshman. He shot 37.8% overall, and 36.2% from three.
He left Navy after his freshman year, and is currently playing at Iowa Western CC. They are 4-3 after 7 games. Josiah Strong is averaging 14.2 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 3.7 assists/game, and he's shooting 36.1% from three.

He will play this year. #fakenews

Citing what Jim Benson said.... He is not currently playing, though he expects to play by January-

Fleming averaged 12.3 points and 6.7 rebounds per game last season as Male compiled a 22-10 record. He missed the first half of the season after having surgery on his right shoulder. Fleming had surgery on his left shoulder earlier this month and said he'll play again in January.

Missouri State head coach Dana Ford has several offers out to junior college guards, probably because their lack of quality point guard play has been a big part of why the team picked to win the MVC is struggling with an 9-10 record. Today, they got a verbal commitment from a 2021 high school player-
2021 Isaac Haney, a 6'1" guard from Dora R-III High School in tiny Dora, Missouri which is located in rural southern Missouri, verbally committed today.

Evansville's 2020 recruit Johnathan DeJurnett, has decommitted, leaving only Trey Hall in their 2020 class. But expect there to be more significant turnover there after the season.

Missouri State just got a commitment from 6'6" guard Skylar "Sky" Wicks of Surge Academy in Florida-

Illinois State just got a verbal commitment today from Alex Kotov, a 6'9" juco guard/forward from Daytona State College in Florida. He is originally from Russia.
http://verbalcommits.com/players/alex-kotov

He averaged
6.1 ppg and 5.9 rpg in 2018-19 at Palm Beach State College
https://www.njcaa.org/sports/mbkb/20.../alexkotov3rdw

He then transferred to Daytona State College for his sophomore season. He averaged 4.5 ppg and 3.5 rpg in 2 games there then broke his hand and missed the rest of the season-
http://stats.njcaa.org/sports/mbkb/2.../alexkotov2re2

So he will be eligible for a medical redshirt and should have 3 seasons of eligibility at ISU.

This is an interesting signing, since it puts ISU 2 scholarships over the limit for 2020-21. They have 3 seniors leaving (Torres, Hillsman, and Copeland) but they have now gotten 5 new commitments.
It all but guarantees that there will be multiple additional players with eligibility remaining who are forced out this year. It's a good guess that the top candidates for trimming will likely include some of the players at the lower end of their stats page.
