Who do you want to play in STL??

I'm not sure who I really want or don't want to play in STL at this point. Creighton and ISU scare me to most I think. It will be interesting to see how we play at home again WSU considering how bad we did against them at their place. Dana always scares me and ISU(red) can beat us down low all day.

Thoughts?

I'll take on anyone, anywhere. We can't be afraid of anyone. We may be having a down year again, but I bet we're one team that most of the others would prefer not to face in STL.

I would ideally like for Creighton to lose their remaining games, and for MSU to go 2-1. We would then hopefully play MSU in the 4/5 game, who I think we match up well with, and then from there go on to play UNI, who we can also hang with. It would just be a matter of who we see in the championship game ;)

Based on results our best option is UNI. I dont like the option of playing CU twice in one week or having to deal with ISU but if we play ISU I would want them first not after we have played a game.

Our lack of depth and ISU's length, height will wear us down in a second game.

No idea what MSU team would show up so they are a wild card.

I guess if we have to have a team we play and it is in the friday game not the play in, then I suppose MSU is the best of the options.

My first choice (if only we could "choose"...) for the first round:

MSU
Creighton
ISU

Then I'd like to see UNI game. More afraid of WSU and ISU than UNI. We match-up well and always play them well.

There is really nobody that terrifies me in the conference this year. We can beat anyone if we play well. The problem is the difference between our good game and bad game is so distant/large. We can look like we can beat anyone one night and nobody the next. The key is just finding some consistency. This may be some inner optimism but if we play well in STL we are going to be a tough out regardless who we play. And I think its going to be CU or Ill State. That would put us in the side of the bracket against UNI. JL hasnt done all that poorly against number one seeds in the tourney. I know he has only won one game (WSU Sweet 16 Year) but we lost at the buzzer against a great SIU team and last year against UNI in a game I felt was closer than the score ended up being. We are due for another run in STL. In a year where there is so much parody why can't it be us?

My vote is still for CU, as we'd likely lose to them on senior night anyway. No way do they sweep us with the team they have this year. It's not the Dana invitational in 2010. Give me creighton in our matinee and I'll take my chances getting to UNI on Saturday. And there's a chance a Drake or SIU could take down UNI at noon as well. How great would it be to beat CU and know you have a team playing their third game in 3 days against you on Saturday? couple that with watching an absolutely knock down drag out evening session on Friday and I'd say that's a great weekend. We can dream.

Who would you rather play

Hi,

Haven't posted for awhile, but regular reader during the season. I don't want to play whoever we play second, if we win the first game. Seems this team is one big tease, winning a big name now and then and not being able to string anything together. A win tonight might start to convince me just a bit that the team is improving and capable of going on a run. I'm just as fanatic as the group here, really, and would love nothing more than a surprise trip to the big dance, but I just don't see this team winning 3 games in 3 days against anybody at this point. I really, really, hope I'm wrong.

As for all the Les talk, I'm more of a supporter than a naysayer. During his tenure, BU has not had any great teams (although the Sweet 16 year was a fantastic run, that team was seeded 6th in STL if I recall) and some nice little mini-tourney runs, but he's also had no terrible teams. I guess I'm a bit tired of the mediocrity but not ready to give up on him yet. I think next year is huge (I know, a variation on this is Jim Les' biggest game...it's his biggest year), but I do believe that it's basically the same team with some new blood and if he can't take them to a top 2 or 3 MVC finish, it might be time to move on...

We were in a 4/5 game against CU and won that and then played the number one seed WSU with Paul Wilson and co. I believe. Then SIU in the finals.
