One of Wichita State's top players, Sean Ogirri, may be transferring. It was reported by a Denver radio station (Ogirri is from Denver) that he may be transferring to Wyoming. He is a junior, and would only have 1 season of eligibility left after sitting out a year. Both Wichita State (Gregg Marshall) and Wyoming (Heath Schroyer) have new coaches.

Mark Turgeon, who was still Wichita's coach at the time, was telling people at the Final Four in Atlanta that he didn't expect Ogirri back next year.

A case of another young talented kid making a stupid decision. Did everyone know that the human brain is not fully developed until around age 25? The part that is not developed is the part that prevents us from making stupid decisions.

More MVC news--

Drake has had some bad luck, and I hope this isn't more of it. One of their top returning players next year will be senior Klayton Korver. He had a knee injury and missed the 2005-2006 season with a medical redshirt as he recovered from a knee opoeration in April, 2005. He played fairly well for them last year, and was their best 3-point shooter, but his season was still probably a slight disappointment by Korver's standards This article explains why, as Korver had some lingering knee problems all season, and just had another knee operation to repair some remaining damage.

Drake's Korver has another knee surgery --

Let's hope Klayton can return to 100% and have a great year next year.

Here is more minor Drake news-- Tom Davis always liked to have a large roster complete with several walk-ons. Now new coach Keno Davis is doing the same. They have a commitment from an Iowa high schooler to walk-on and join the basketball team next year (see 5th paragraph)--
http://www.timesrepublican.com/Sports/articles.asp?articleID=8672

And Drake also gets the record for having the most coaches with the same last name who aren't related to each other. Now that Coach Tom Davis has retired, son Keno Davis is the head coach.--

Chris Davis was recently promoted to the title of Associate Head Coach--

And Rodell Davis was recently hired as a new Assistant Coach--

The 3rd assistant coach is Justin Ohl. And there is no evidence that he is thinking of changing his name to Davis.

Ogirri

Ogirri

I cannot understand why Ogirri would do this. He is probably much better suited to become a star under Marshall's system than he was under Turgeon's system.

He either has an attitude problem and has been "encouraged" to leave, or he's got people whispering in his ear and he doesn't see just how detrimental a transfer would be to his basketball career :?
