Would it have been possible?

With the BU Quincy game coming up tonight, I was thinking about the new facility and I came up with a question I"m sure someone here will be able to answer.

With all the money invested in the new arena/facilities, why not throw in the extra dough and make that arena the permanent one? Right there on campus- 8,000 seats or so - just done. We'd still have the P.C.C. for huge games, and the arena could be expanded down the road too. Do we have a big contract with the Civic Center?

It's probably been brought up before, but I figure I'd throw it out there.

Not sure what the official line was, but don't we average more than 8000? I would think we'd need a fair amount of land to build something large enough on campus.

Plus...no beer at the games would be bad. :(

Can't imagine 6-8000 people in an on campus facility....Street access to the area is limited, and you know Peoria people will try and park on streets to avoid paying to park in the deck. Surrounding neighborhood is dark. Sidewalks narrow. Few quality entertainment and restaurant places nearby.

Sorry folks, trying to relieve BU glory days of 'hanger' basketball on campus isn't going to work for the 21st century. Not when most of the fan base isn't within walking distance of the campus anymore.

55- there actually have been several threads that I believe answer your quesitons...but it still comes up from time to time..
So I have posted a link below to an answer I gave several weeks ago to the exact same questions...
It simply boils down to what's legal, what's allowable, and what's sensible...
ALSO...go back and re-read the answers given by Dr. Cross in the recent chat session and he hints at the fact that it is possible and maybe somewhat in the plans for the future to expand the arena if and when time is right...
