  • Obituary notice from long time BU fan

I usually browse the Obituaries in the PJstar to see if their was anyone I may have known in the past. I stumbled upon one a few days ago that was interesting. His name is Michael Routzon. Died at age 46 from leukemia. Anyways, in the obituary it said he was a long time Bradley basketball supporter and was a season ticket holder for 16 years. Just thought it was interesting and maybe a few people on here may have known him and not realized he passed. Link is below...

It's always sad to lose a true fan as this gentleman was. Hopefully we didn't lose a valued poster without realizing it.

This reminds me of a situation on another college sports board I used to read where about 3-4 years ago, one of the main posters stopped posting suddenly. This board was fairly anonymous, but after a few days, someone pieced together that the poster had been killed in a car crash that had been in the news. After finding contact information for his widow, they confirmed this was true. The board fell apart within a few months, sadly.

That's definitely the strange thing about the anonymity of message boards in general. If a well known poster stopped posting suddenly and without reason, there may never be an explanation if no one knows the poster personally.

I did not know Michael Routzon, but I am sorry to see anyone's passing at such a young age.

We lost another great Bradley fan last week when Gene Crumley died--

Some here might have known Gene, but even if you didn't know him, you might have seen him, as he was almost always at every Bradley event, and was a season-ticket holder and big supporter of Bradley men's and women's basketball. He has a collection of hats and would get every member of the men's and women's team to sign a hat each year for the last couple decades.

        Gene

My wife and I had seats next to the Crumleys for several years. Great folks. Don't know how I missed his obit in the PJS. Thanks for the information.

Gene Crumley was one of those BU icons that made you smile....
He was always brightly dressed in his red & white, smiling, chatting, and always willing to greet you and talk Bradley basketball.

Gene is one Braves fan I know I will miss...I am sorry to hear of his passing...
