  • Early Signing Period Poll

November 11th is the next signing date. I am not sure if it matters if we get anyone in the early signing period or not. Since I am impatient I was wondering do you think we will sign someone in the early signing period?

I voted "one" with just a gut feeling......seems like the staff is looking for guards by most of the names mentioned....but if a big 5 were available I hope we would take it!

Officially....are there 2 or 3 rides for next season assuming JW counts for 1 of the 3 and how does it all work out with Harris now?

I agree with Big Mike. I voted for one player not including JW. I think that we can be very selective with our offers for this class assuming JW is BU bound.

BU has 7 guards on the roster for this year, and only 5 on the roster so far for next year. My guess/vote goes for one, or two more, guards - not sure if it will be early/late. If a frosh it might be early signing, if a JC leaning more to next year signing...

Of course possible benefit to BU for waiting till next year is to let everyone else get booked up early, then finding gems in HS or JC who develop late, or come off injury and have a good year....or players who get dropped by other majors who have over committed

Harris' 2 year mission starts this year so he will not be available until then.

I would at least like to sign 1 high school senior that is at least 6-6 or bigger , we actually need another high school signee to give that incoming class 2 players as J.Wilkens will be in the sophomore class.

At this point I think I'd rather have a guard. We lose 2 guards to graduation this year (Roberts, Dunson) and 2 the following year (Maniscalco, Warren). 2 years from now our roster will be Thompson 6-10, Egolf 6-9, Prosser 6-8, Knezevic 6-8, Harris 6-7, Brown 6-6, Wilkins 6-9, McCain 5-10, Eastman 6-4, and Simms-Edwards 6-2. 7 big men compared to 3 guards, and 8 of the 10 players expected to be on the roster will be 6'4" or taller.
This is just the tip of the iceberg...

Is there a chance JW could sign an LOI in November?

I am not positive, but I was under the impression he had to graduate before he could sign. Because he was not considered a qualifier from the transcripts.

From what I understand both of these are generally true in this specific case, but I believe the rule is that he must be able to show he is on track to graduate on time and I believe that will be very difficult to do until at least next semester...

I really don't believe this to be the case...

here is a perfect example of a kid who was a juco player
who had never even played a single game but signed a LOI

Wow, hopefully he won't forget how to play and isn't too old to move around...

I think you have it right. It would be very easy for him to show he is on track once the spring semester is over (or even after midterm in the spring), but probably not after the fall semester. He would have had to of taken several classes over last summer, a full load this fall, an interim class in January, a full load next spring, and finally a full load next summer. I think he could prove it at midterm next spring if he completes everything up to that point and is enrolled for summer school, and that really depends on the school.

I wonder how many credits he took over last summer (anyone know?) and how many he is enrolled in this fall? He will need somewhere between 62 or 64 hours to graduate (I don't know what his school requires). Maybe he can "clep" some of those hours? That's what I would be trying to do. I just hope he doesn't get sweet talked by someone else.
