He would have had to of taken several classes over last summer, a full load this fall, an interim class in January, a full load next spring, and finally a full load next summer. I think he could prove it at midterm next spring if he completes everything up to that point and is enrolled for summer school, and that really depends on the school.

I wonder how many credits he took over last summer (anyone know?) and how many he is enrolled in this fall? He will need somewhere between 62 or 64 hours to graduate (I don't know what his school requires). Maybe he can "clep" some of those hours? That's what I would be trying to do. I just hope he doesn't get sweet talked by someone else.
Yeah I was trying to figure this out, I've taken 22 credit hours in a semester before, but I wasn't trying to stay in shape for basketball (1st sem) or actually play college sports (2nd and 3rd sems). I also think that there is a good chance that if Jeff Wilkins is as good as advertised that he could attract the attention of programs who may be more attractive than BU in some ways...

I don't think we have to worry about that. He used up his college elibility a LONG time ago

here is a perfect example of a kid who was a juco player
who had never even played a single game but signed a LOI

"May 20, 2004: Lance Stemler, a 6-foot-7 forward from Southwestern Illinois (IL) CC signed a National Letter of Intent with Bradley"

Different situation entirely.....Lance Stemler was a qualifier out of high school so he could sign. John Wilkins is not a qualifier.

I am not so sure...and I will give evidence why...

I think being a qualifier is of no significance here...as that only affects whether you can sign a LOI in your FIRST junior college year.

Here is the actual rule from the National Letter of Intent web site..
            ..under the FAQ...
"May I sign a National Letter of Intent before I am certified as eligible by the NCAA Eligibility Center?"

Answer: "Yes. You may sign a National Letter of Intent before you receive your final certification determination from the NCAA Eligibility Center. When you sign a National Letter of Intent you agree to submit the necessary information and documents to the NCAA."
..then if it turns out you are not a qualifier, then the LOI is void...
"If you are classified as a nonqualifier pursuant to NCAA Bylaw 14.3, your National Letter of Intent is rendered null and void."

Wilkins would not have been able to sign a LOI in his first juco year unless he was a qualifier, but he is now in his 2nd year.
"2-4 transfer may sign an NLI in the first year of junior college enrollment if he or she was a qualifier and never previously signed an NLI."
            (a 2-4 transfer is one coming from a 2-year juco to a 4-year college)
but anyone can sign in their 2nd year...
"may sign....in the signing year in which he or she is scheduled to graduate from the junior college."

so if Wilkins can graduate this year, it doesn't matter if he's played or if the NCAA had deemed him eligible.

I believe J.Wilkins has not wavered about coming to BU and I hope he is able to sign his letter this fall so he will not be bothered by any of the other schools and be able to play ball this winter without all the distractions.

Braves4Life, that current picture is very understated. (LOL) I vote you keep that one for a while. This is the new era of "Hope" you see.

That might certainly solve our rebounding problems. And I KNOW OoB would be happy
