Yeah, there weren't any good teams in the MVC that year. We finished fourth and lost in the title game. I think the MVC only had what? 4 teams in the NCAA's? and 2 in the Sweet Sixteen? Yeah, the MVC should have been ours for the taking, clearly we laid down. It couldn't have had anything to do with the fact that it was the MVC's strongest year ever...

Az Fan I know there are no bigger Bradley fans than you and I. For anyone to question our fan loyalty because we didn't think the Braves were going very far that season is ridiculous. I wonder how many of so called better Bradley fans than us thought that after the late season Indiana St game the Braves would even make the Big Dance, much less be as successful as they were. Just because they surprised me, admit it guys, and everybody else, does not mean it didn't make us happy to be Bradley fans.

If the word "FLUKE" is too strong a word for a BU Fan to describe BU's upset wins in the 2006 NCAA Tourney vs Kansas and Pittsburg, perhaps "UNLIKELY" would be more palatable.

I believe BU finished tied for 5th/6th in the MVC that year with N Iowa at 11-7. BU edged out Creighton and Mo St for the NCAA's that year who both finished at 12-6, and N Iowa at 11-7, but all had disappointing MVC Tourney Results. BU was 3-5 vs the top four teams in the Valley and lost two bad games, one to Drake and one to Indiana State that season.

Unless one wants to claim WSU, SIU, Mo St, Creighton, and N Iowa were all better than Kansas and Pittsburg that year, BU's NCAA wins were unlikely, or, BU's 11-7 MVC record that year was unlikely...

I consider myself a BU "fan", but not a BU "fanatic", when discussing their BB team and its accomplishments.

I'm not even going to get into this. But there is a reason they play the game. Not too mention 3-5 against the top teams in a league that produced 4 bids, and getting to Sunday ISN'T A BAD YEAR.

We oughta just crown OSU in football every year and Kansas in basketball, their the winningest programs. If anyone beats them it's a fluke, they're clearly not better teams. The Yankee's win the World Series every year, they clearly have the best roster, if anyone else wins it's a fluke.

Yes, I like "unlikely" better AZ BU Fan.

However, I'm sorry to hear that you only consider yourself a "fan". I think you're really missing out on the joy of BU basketbal when you're not a "fanatic"..... Of course, I guess being a fan makes it easier when things don't go quite perfect because I guess it gives one license to b!tch and moan. Fanatics just live and die with the team..... we rarely bad-mouth the "good guys".

                • Wins are flukes and losses are unacceptable - some people are never happy.

I like unlikely better also. I've been a Bradley fanatic longer than the majority of posters on this board and just because fans like myself think what happened in 2005-06 was unlikely doesn't mean we are bad mouthing the Braves. In response to the poster who said some fans are never happy, I say I'm never happy when things aren't going well and IMO that makes me a fan who cares about the program.

Well put Chico....I don't think there is a BU fan alive that didn't enjoy and relish that 2006 NCAA run. Its EXACTLY what the masses are screaming for...more of that.

Beating those teams was no fluke.....we were better on the day the game was played and thats all that matters.

I think what happens sometime though is the NCAA run is put into context when discussing BU's performance for the past 8 years......it was a "fluke" in the overall performance of teams in the Les Era where the majority of people see it (the last 8 years) as mediocre.

Its not meant to discount the actual NCAA run as NO ONE can ever diminish the results. We were somewhat lucky to get a bid (even though we did indeed deserve it) and we can all agree 4th or 5th in the Valley is probably NEVER going to get a bid again. THAT is what makes it a "fluke" to some....again, not the effort, performance or results.

                      • Once again... to SOME, not you or you or you or even YOU.... Wins are flukes (a stroke of luck)... and losses are not acceptable (and are NOT flukes). SOME must never be happy. SOME must enjoy misery.

Me - wins are acceptable and losses are flukes (a stroke of bad luck).

My thoughts exactly! There is no such thing as a "fluke" when Bradley loses.

We both know that doesn't make sense because when we lose people will say we "should have/were supposed to" win, but never the other team won by "accident" or "chance" or "a stroke of good luck".
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

I think Bradley would have had a difficult time beating Kansas in a 7 game series. On the other hand, I don't think Pittsburgh could have beaten Bradley in a 7 game series. We were simply a better team than Pittsburgh and I don't know how anyone at that game could think otherwise.

                                I would agree.

I also think a BU-Kansas series would go the distance, and I can't say definitively that BU would lose. I give BU a chance in that series in that year is because of age and experience (in that year, and that year only). Had those two teams played a year later, I think Kansas wins a 7 game series easily. If they played right now, I don't think BU would win a game.
