Suggestion for the site

I don't know who does the coding for the site. But I thought it'd be cool if we put in a section that puts all the relevant peoples tweets on the site (Coach, Players, etc.). It's not difficult to do and many other sites do the same, it'd just be another way to get info on the team, and give access to that info by those who don't use twitter. I find lots of JL's tweets to be pretty interesting.

As much as it would be cool, here are the issues:

1. Cryptic Tweets from players. Chances are if you try to extrapolate what a player tries to say that appears negative, it will be deleted (can't argue with that).

2. This goes back to number one, but I find JL's Tweets to be cryptic. I think he does that on purpose. I don't expect him to give us the inside dirt on what goes on during practices, but what I do hope is that the players get a lot out of their drills and bring their a-game to a competition.

3. Twitter, in general, tends to be used by folks who want us to know what is going on right then, right now. Unless it is a close knit family member or member, and the Tweets are open to the public for viewing, I could not care less at all.

4. Goes back to number three, but not every Tweet is insightful or interesting.

I just want our student-athletes to be competitive on the court, and at the same time gain an education that will serve them well in whatever endeavor that they pursue (going pro in something other than sports, thanks NCAA). They can certainly have hobbies and discuss them on social networks, but that is not high on my importance.

And even if you have a player who leaves school early to declare for a draft, I hope that they can be problem-solvers and thinkers when they play pro ball for a contract.

I would only agree if my tweets are direct linked as well. everyone follow me.

If you don't want to read the tweets....then don't....read the tweets?

no way -- there are some who are just laying in wait to trash the players and team over anything-- even one tiny tweet that gets misinterpreted..

I think it would be wonderful to have this on the site. We could get an up-close look at the players and their true, unfiltered thoughts.

Sorry BradleyJD, I wasn't clear, obviously. I meant that as a reason why we don't need to worry about putting it on here = more handwringing over tweets. The information is out there, can't see any reason why the site wouldn't have it.

Great idea.

As long as suggestions for the site are being made, perhaps another new Forum could be launched....

'Basketball Fan Talk - Negative Nellies Only'.... ;-) ;-)

Posters/threads/posts judged too negative to BU in general or JL in specific would be banished to this Forum..:lol:

Posters/viewers would then be forewarned content on this specific Forum may not appeal to them!:lol:
