I am 100% positive about our coaching staff - I'm there every game - and I am pretty sure lefty sees me standing up & cheering even more than he does ()....but there's plenty here who have not been

Couldn't agree more . Most of us know what he was getting at but you hit the nail on the head for those who didn't get it.
I certainly get it but it still seems unfathomable that blame is even an option for this year.
Doubling our wins and even being in contention to not play on Thursday is a huge step. Why be half empty and pine for what used to be when that isnt coming back...
It's certainly not 100% reflected on this board, though I don't doubt that you are at the games.
Just trying to help you out if you truly want people to believe your stance.

wow - where were all the fans with such minimal expectations a couple years ago??
The world seemed filled with people who were miserable even with 20 wins or 4th place and an NCAA bid

We're all here...watching a team in the rebuilding phase with a winning record under a 2nd year head coach. And we were there to watch a team that should have finished 3rd or better with the talent level we had and didn't have a winning record under a head coach's 8th season, and then still watching after going into February, winless during his 9th season. I should have had that "minimal" expectation after 2 of our best players got injured, but I guess I was aiming WAAAAAAAYYYY too high in expecting 1 win in 11 games.
so if you look at Bradley when we're 7-25 or a game or two over .500, and conclude "it just isn't possible to have been any better"..
Thus you don't have a lot of hope we're going to win any key games and then you are stoked about finishing at the bottom of the league??
I am not - I look at this team, and firmly believe they are better than the record indicates...and that we can and should be competitive in every game that we should NOT accept or be happy with losses - especially double digit and 30pt losses - and I want to see them finish strong and win several games...
Excuse me. I am NOT stoked that about finishing in the bottom half of the league. Never have, never will be. But when you hit rock bottom like we did the past two years (for whatever the reasons, but that's a discussion for another day), you have learn to crawl before you walk.
No, personally I did not have a lot of hope about us winning key games. But I do believe we have exceeded expectations, and I'm surprised you feel we are playing so poor considering you were very outspoken that our poor record last year was caused by the fallout from Les's firing. Now you are saying we are playing below our talent level. So which is it?
And I respectably disagree that Bradley has not been competitive in most of their games. With may 3 or 4 exceptions, they have been very competitive in every game this year, and while the Drake and Portland losses were particularly grating, we have had the capability of winning many more games this year, which we have done.
Oh, and yes even Duke has lost a couple of games by close to 30 points this year. Therefore, I guess that means they have no business being ranked in the top 5 this year. So our losing a few games like that proves nothing in my opinion.

People weren't miserable with the NCAA bid or THAT 4th place finish....you know that......it didn't get better and in fact got worse after that and the change happened..
These expectations are the same now as they were the first few years of Les's start as a D-1 coach.....
and I'm sure if we finish upper half or win the conference or a conference tournament but not a SS then some here will contend we never met expectations either......y'all are making me dizzy(insert dizzy sign here)

That's not the argument here. You fail to miss the point. I'm sorry.

Two fourth place finishes in nine years and a single ncaa bid. That is a big enough body of work to pass judgement on. 2 years is not.
Good thing last coach around we had tempered expectations...I seem to recall bradleys conference record regressing during the second and third year of that coaches tenure.
nobody's calling for anyone to be fired - but I still believe most Bradley fans want better than Thursday - it was promised to us - so wake me up when we actually see it...
btw - I am planning to be in St. Louis but I note that despite record numbers of tickets begin bought by some teams' fans...
there are only a couple hundred tix sold to Bradley fans - the smallest number that I can ever recall...
Even last year Bradley had sold 200 tickets by January 1st! If the enthusiasm is so high and people are so giddy about Bradley's improvement - can someone explain why that does not translate into anything measurable?
Most of the fans who are there year in and year out go regardless of wins & losses...Bradley just has GOOD FANS - but something is amiss this year -- fill me in??

As we frequently see, some like to suggest the previous years were a total failure. We had 5 winning seasons in a row with over 100 wins- when was the last time that happened? We went to a Sweet 16 for the first time in over 50 years, and attendance stayed consistently over 9,000, and donations set all-time records that may never be equaled. I agree that many fans were ready for a change, but until we exceed the success of the previous regime, we should not be casting stones at a period for Bradley that in many ways was highly successful.

I wouldnt disagree that there were obvious successes during that stretch. I just find it absurd to hold up the new coach up to standards the previous coach never met in his first two years.
He said BU will compete for championships....give it time to be proven true or false. JL obviously got time and a longer leash to put together a body of work. After 9 years, someone evaluated that and said his wasnt strong enough. I am not even pining for nine years - however to expect more than the progress we have seen seems irrational.
Disregarding progress andtaking the half empty approach in regards to how this team has done isnt justified. You can of course appreciate the past but to stay there and not also appreciate the leaps this team has made this year is a disservice to the job the coaches and players have done.
There was no bigger Jim Les fan than myself. I'm basing that on the man himself as he was always willing to come to our club and speak at a dinner whenever I asked him. As a coach, I wish we would have had a better record, but then who wouldn't, no matter who is coach. I wish Jim all the luck at UCD. But he is gone and Geno is our coach and I'm also behind him 100%. Would be nice to see Geno leave Bradley for a higher job because of the job he does at Bradley. GO BRAVES.
