  • Derrick Rose injured again

If anyone else was watching the Bulls game last night, they saw them lose a huge lead in the 3rd quarter, then lose the game to the Portland Trailblazers.
But Derrick Rose went down and left the game with a right knee injury. It is the opposite knee that he had surgical reconstruction of his ACL in back in the spring of 2012, but the way he got injured and then limped off the court sure look concerning. An MRI is scheduled for today.

Bulls interested in acquiring Evan Turner and Sixers interested in dealing
The Bulls now need to figure out a way to replace Rose once again-- which is where the Sixers could step in.

It was just announced that Derrick Rose underwent surgery today to repair the torn meniscus cartilage in his right knee, and he will miss the rest of this season.

oh no - we're going to go thru the same fan & media second guessing about the playoffs that happened last year..

Derrick Rose's knee surgeon is Dr. Brian Cole - the same doctor who operated on Will Egolf's 2nd knee reconstruction..
He is considered by many to be perhaps the top knee surgeon in the nation

Dr. Brian Cole once again has done a surgical procedure on Derrick Rose - this time an arthroscopic repair of his reinjured right meniscus cartilage.
The early news on Derrick is good -
Dr. Brian Cole also did Will Egolf's 2nd knee repair and has also operated on one of my family members.

Let's see: Rose, Gibson, and Butler on the sidelines. I wonder if they make the playoffs?

Just a formality, but the use of the word "repair" often confuses people related to orthopaedic surgery. For example, "repair" means fixing the native tissue, typically with sutures, anchors, etc. without outside structures. "Reconstruction" means fixing the tissue with help from outside structures either from the individual or a cadaver, etc. "Removal" means just that- removing part of the native tissue and not fixing anything. From a rehab perspective, knee cartilage injuries will vary greatly based on a number of factors. For Rose in this case, all information points to a "symptomatic rehab" or progress with all basketball activity as pain and swelling allow. In other words, if he has no pain, no swelling, and confidence to run, jump, and play fully in 4 weeks, he will be back in game action. However, we are talking about Delay Rose.

with just 22 games left in the season the Bulls have a 12 game lead on the teams that fall outside the playoffs.
They might slide a bit, but they should be able to hang on to a playoff spot
