Robert Morris lost their opening game Friday night at home to Lafayette, 77-50-
Moon Township, Pa. – Dan Trist scored a game-high 21 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the field as Lafayette posted a wire-to-wire victory over the Robert Morris University men's basketball team Friday in the 2014-15 season opener for both programs at the Charles L. Sewall Center.

They play a game Sunday at North Carolina as part of the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament that they are competing in. That game can be seen on ESPNU at 5 PM Central on Sunday.

In their opening game, they shot just 25% from the field, and were 5-22 from three. They were outrebounded 43-27 by Lafayette, who were 11-20 last year, and near the bottom of the Patriot League.

Robert Morris won their conference last year, the Northeast Conference, with a record of 14-2 in conference, and 21-14 overall. One of their wins was at Lafayette.-

They were upset in the final of their conference tournament, and did not get a bid to the NCAA. Instead, they received an automatic bid to the NIT, and upset #1 seed St. John's in the first round. Then they lost at Belmont in the 2nd round and were eliminated.

This will be the first meeting ever between Bradley and Robert Morris University. They are coached by Robert Toole, who is starting his 5th season at RMU. Toole's record in his first 4 seasons is 90-50. His Northeast Conference record is an impressive 53-17, with 2 third place finishes, and first place finishes the last 2 seasons.

Robert Morris was bad in their loss to Lafayette by almost 30 pts at home...
I have to think we ought to beat them easily when they go on the road and play here next week...but...
but if we lose to these guys - then I think we are cooked...

As much disappointment and acrimony as we fans have about the poor play these last couple games, lets try to get up for and support the team and hope we can see them bounce back. I do believe they are capable of much better play. How much better, we'll see. Go Braves.

You are setting us up for failure. Winning may be a tall stretch, but I am hoping to see more layups made and less easy buckets for the opponent.

If you buy the BU TV all access package for a month the day of this game, you will be able to watch five of the games streamed over the next 30 days for $9.95, before that service stops and ESPN3 takes over. That said, I'm not sure that this team is even worth that. But I do want to be able to say I saw their performance (or lack thereof) with my own eyes, so I can really offer an informed opinion.

If you sign up for the BU.tv streaming before the Robert Morris game Nov. 19, it should include all streamed events for 1 month, which would include all the home men's basketball games through the Eureka game Dec. 18.

I agree - we need to drastically alter our defense for the next game - if we hold them to 45 points we're gonna start a winning streak

Robert Morris getting blown out big time for the 2nd game in a row...and the team that just clobbered them, Lafayette, is getting hammered by 30 today!

...they are down 69-38 early in 2nd half - this could get ugly...
Not one of RMU's starters has more than 4 pts...
Sure we ought to beat these guys easily - there is absolutely NO excuse - they will be dead tired by the time they deplane in Peoria.

BTW- UC-Davis hitting 75% from the floor in the 1st half in a blowout in their home opener..looks like they will depart the list of winless teams well before BU does...

After our performances in the last 2 games I wouldn't assume anything about this team. It doesn't matter how bad Robert Morris has looked in their 2 games, they are going to look at Bradley as a winnable game.

RMU had a successful season last year, going 21-14 overall, and 14-2 in their conference. Their RPI last year was 113, easily the best RPI of any team on our non-conference schedule this year. But, they lost 4 of their top 5 scorers from last year's team. Senior guard Lucky Jones is the only returner among last years top 5 offensive players. Jones was the team's top rebounder last year. But this year, they just aren't getting much out of their starters. The starting 5 accounted for only 17 of their 59 points today against North Carolina (and just 29 points in their opener against Lafayette). Their leading scorer today (as well as tying for team lead in their first game) was a freshman, Marcquise Reed, a 6'3" guard from Maryland, with 24 points. Don't be surprised if he doesn't move into the starting lineup against Bradley. Another new player, Rodney Pryor, a kid from Evanston, Illinois, via Cloud County CC, had 9 points off the bench today, and given the lack of scoring from their starters, he may also start, or at least see significant playing time at Bradley.
They have not looked good in their first 2 games, but I think they are better than they have looked so far (I am starting to sound like Geno and Dave Reynolds), and I think they can beat Bradley.

Robert Morris is now 0-2. In their two games, they have been badly outscored (combined score of 180-109 for an average margin of loss of 35.5 points) and outrebounded (combined rebound totals of 93-58, for an average margin of -17.5 per game).
But their players and their fans look at the game Wednesday at Bradley as a game they can win.
Here is an article from the RMU Rivals page about their game yesterday at North Carolina- I hope it is visible to all and not a subscription article. If it is, PM me for the full article. Below are some clips from the article-

The frontcourt combination of Kennedy Meeks and Brice Johnson combined for 44 points and helped the University of North Carolina (2-0) rout Robert Morris (0-2) by a score of 103-59...
Marcquise Reed, a freshman, turned heads when he led all scorers with 24 points on 10-15 shooting...
The Tar Heels outrebounded Robert Morris 49-31 and got to the free throw line 36 times compared to RMU's 14. Furthermore, UNC had 29 assists on 36 made baskets to RMU's nine assists on 22 made baskets. The Colonials had another subpar shooting day, going 22-61 (36percent) from the field and 6-20 (30 percent) from three...
Outside of Reed, Robert Morris did not have anyone else score in double digits. Lucky Jones struggled again with foul trouble and went just 2-7 from the field...
RMU will take the court Wednesday when they travel to Bradley.

We will still have Amerson, Barnes, and Sutherland unavailable..
I would love to see Nate Wells start and play 20-30 minutes - his numbers are certainly as good as anyone else in the paint..
