Jim did an amazing job - holding Corey out for 16 minutes in the 1st half - I am sure a lot of people would have criticized and I would played him as well...

but it worked - he has sparked their offense and has guided the Aggies on a surge and they have rallied from 11 down & now lead 64-56
UCD has made four of their last five shots - all THREE's!!! - and have made 12 of their last 16 shots -

Holding someone out with two fouls in the first half is an amazing job?

          We all could that

he held him out for the final 16 minutes of the 1st half while UCD fell behind by 11..
he did a good job, the Big West announcers all agree he did a good job coaching this game, and I am sure the newspaper tomorrow will say the same,
but obviously you disagree - and that is your right.

UC-Davis has won 25 games, more than they ever have in history
they had only won one Big West Tourney game this past decade - they just matched that
and they have had a truly memorable season that every fan here would love to have - but I still see people discounting his accomplishments.
I think it makes disgruntled Bradley fans look small and petty when they criticize their ex-coach who is doing remarkably well.

I think some of the strongest evidence of a guy's coaching ability is how he handles situations
that he did not plan for, did not have time to prepare for, and that he is not in anyway responsible for...
some coaches play the victim, they pout and cry and pour out the excuses - hoping a willing and gullible press will run with all those alibis.
Some get frustrated and start making endless roster moves and 25 different starting lineups until they finally realize there's that one guy at the end of the bench that he never wanted on the team and sure never wanted to play - but he's desperate so he throws the guy in there - and PRESTO - the guy makes the fans wonder why that coach hadn't played him 3 years earlier when he is their best player and wins games for them.
Some coaches make bad moves - enough so that they get schooled and lose a halftime lead because they fail to see the other team's adjustments coming - and then they get frikking blown out time and time again in the 2nd half.

And - I guess injuries fall into that realm, but definitely finding your star player in unexpected foul trouble only 4 minutes into THE do-or-die tournament game - and you need to make and live with a decision.
Most guys, I am convinced, would have panicked when they fell behind 11 to an #8 seed and would have been inclined to go to your star, risking a 3rd or 4th foul in the 1st half.

And Coach Les has also had tons of injuries last year - he lost three starters last year for the full season to season ending injuries, his star, Hawkins, was hampered by nagging injuries as well, and this year he won several games with key players, including Hawkins, out with injury.

I am not saying he is in line for the Duke job but he's done LIGHT YEARS better than anyone at UC-Davis - and better than most people here ever thought he'd do in a million years...

Da Coach said something in 2011 and took tons of mock, ridicule, & heat for it...
He said he would bet that Jim Les would be successful and take his team to the post-season faster at UC-Davis than Geno would here for Bradley...and Da Coach was right in spades...

If for some reason they don't win the championship game and go to the NIT, how great would that be to have them play ISU at ISU. Heck, maybe we could have it held at the PCC?

UCD would be the higher seeded team, and would have the home court if such a match occurred. But it could happen since the NCAA seeds the tournament the same way they seed the NCAA Tournament. They do not consider geography or arena size.

Why would they be the higher seeded team?

I think he means they'd be higher seeded than their (initial) opponent - per the new NIT rule
...all regular season conference champions get an automatic bid and not an At-Large bid...
and at 25-4 as a regular season champ - they'd surely get a home game and a higher seed
INDIANAPOLIS --Teams announced by the NCAA Men’s Basketball Committee as the “first four teams out” of the NCAA men’s basketball championship field will be the top-seeded teams in the 2015 NIT Championship. After the NCAA men’s basketball championship bracket is announced, the NIT Committee will place teams identified as the top remaining programs as the four highest seeds in its field. Since the 2012 championship, the NCAA has released its overall seed list, which includes every tournament team ranked 1 through 68, as well as the first four teams closest to receiving an at-large invitat

Just my speculation. But, I think there is a good chance UCD won't be playing in the NIT.
