Goanar Biliew commits to Bradley

Looking at the scholarship grid we don't have any freshmen on it. Davis, Weathers, Hickman, Ekono, Montgomery, Deen and Billew are sophomores. Mast, Leons, Hannah and Linke are juniors. Ville is a senior and Henry is a Covid senior. Can't remember the last time that happened.

That kind of disparity on the roster is now easier to balance in future years with the transfer portal, and now that Coach Wardle seems to be OK with junior college recruits.

The biggest loser in the whole transfer portal is high school kids. You pretty much have to be a top 150 to get a scholarship offer now with teams reloading every year with proven D1 players .....very sad IMO

Yes. High school kids need to be willing to accept D2 offers, play well, then they can move up via the transfer portal. Another option they need to be more open to is the juco or prep school route.

He looks very athletic, and has decent fundamentals for a post player.
Here are his stats from this past season (2021-22)-

Goanar Biliew wore #22 at Des Moines CC, but Ja'Shon Henry is #22 for Bradley.

Seems to dunk a lot. Definite plus in my book.

With the four players Bradley has signed, next year’s team should be an improvement over this year’s team. We can now concentrate on getting more fans to return to Carver Arena. Are Ville and JaShon the only seniors we will have next year? If so, we could be looking at two pretty good years.

Ville and Ja'Shon are not in the same class. Ville is a true senior, and 2022-23 will be his 4th year. But, because he played in 2020-21, he would have the option to return for a 5th year in 2023-24 as a grad-student for his extra "Covid" year.
Ja'Shon was a true senior last season and will be playing in his 5th season in 2022-23. If Ville decides to return for his Covid year in 2023-24, then Ja'Shon could be the only player the team loses after this year.

However, it also creates opportunity for midmajors to steal some of those HS players who blossom late.

Right, but steal them for how long?.....just until they prove to the power 5 guys they can play at the D1 level?

Seems to me power 5 teams might as well not even go after freshman unless they are 5 star guys...not worth the risk...you can go after D1 transfers who already have proven they can play.

Then those diamonds in the rough that mid majors were able to "steal" will be primed and ready to poach when the time comes.

Oh I agree, but unfortunately that is the nature of the game now. It is very disappointing.

One other concern that can be seen on the scholarship grid... If every player stays through their entire eligibility, at the end of the 2024-25 season, Bradley will have 10 scholarship players leaving, plus 2 walk-ons.

I think the one thing we can be sure of, is that not all 10 players will make it to the end.

Anyone know how long Brian Wardle's current contract is through?

Anyone know how long Brian Wardle's current contract is through?

Here's the most recent release of information regarding Coach Wardle's contract situation-
https://bradleybraves.com/news/2018/...ough-2023.aspx
Bradley announced on 3/27/18 that Coach Wardle's contract had been extended through the 2022-23 season.

However, a poster whose word is highly reliable, posted in this thread that Wardle's contract had been extended through the 2024-25 season.

Goanar Biliew's younger brother (class of 2023 Omaha Biliew) has been predicted by a couple recruiting sites to be leaning toward Iowa State.
Recruiting site Rivals is one of them-
https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/2023/omaha-biliew-256426

And there are a couple private twitter accounts like the one you linked to that seem to say he may have committed. But they are not accurate and have no connection to the recruit or to any legitimate recruiting source. Omaha Biliew has not yet officially committed anywhere yet.

Omaha Biliew, the younger brother of Bradley commit Goanar Biliew, who is a 5-star, Top 10 recruit in the class of 2023, has announced his top 4 options-
Oregon, Iowa State, Kansas, and the NBA G-League-

Just saw Coach Altman in that poster.
Dana got to 20 wins again last year...the Ducks were really down, and not sure why after some really good seasons.

I believe he's reached at least 20 wins in 23 of the last 24 seasons now...pretty incredible
He should move up past Tark the Shark (UNLV) and Norm Stewart (MIZZ) at #27 all-time sometime this coming season.

And with another 5 seasons of coaching, he could move into the Top 10 winningest coaches in NCAA D-1 history.
That would be pretty cool to have a former MVC coach (who made a name for himself while at Creighton) reach that milestone!
